Don't understand what Denver is doing, running those plays at the end of the game.
Werent they trying to kneel and Gase started calling timeouts? Gase was a moron, and Fangio lowered himself down to his level. Stupid
Yep. They are both idiots. Fangio should have just punted, sent his D out. Gase calling that Timeout was low class. They need to fire him now.

Not that unpopular - plenty on this board (me included) liked Darnold a lot when we scouted him coming out. It's already very well documented that every player that leaves Gase gets better.

There are already rumblings in the NFL media sphere that there are various teams with ageing QB's who should be very keen to take a run if the Lawrence -> NYJ eventuality comes to pass.

I mean, if you're a Darnold owner, that's all you've got left to hope for right now anyway. He needs a fresh start.

He's got a ton to clean up. He's not a good decision maker. He still has a lot of the same problems from college. A new start with a competent staff is his only hope, the bad habits are going to be tough to fix, but he's still super young.

Darnold's not bad, but dumping him for Lawrence is a no brainer.

I really hope that if the Jets do end up with Lawrence, Gase is long gone by the time he gets there. Would hate to see a potentially great QB derailed by that staff. Also looking forward to the post-Gase breakout for every offensive player on the Jets once he gets fired.

All good, like Derrius Guice's "all is well" good?

That offense is a dumpster fire, with personnel as well. Not every player there is going to break out. Hearing Gase is staying the rest of the year, too.

They seem like the favorite to lose every game, that's for sure. Atlanta, Minnesota and Houston will win their share of games. Houston shouldn't even be in this conversation because of their tough schedule to start. Then there's Philly and Cincy with 0 wins, but that tie. I would think they each win some games too.

So Lawrence ends a Jet and even if Gase is gone, do you trust the management to turn things around all of a sudden? Honest question as I don't know much about them. This is a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in 10 years. Hasn't won the division since 02. You could partially blame Brady for that, but they only finished 2nd 7/17 years. Just seems like a losing culture with poor management similar to WAS, CLE, DET, etc. I would think it's an uphill battle for anyone to go in there and succeed.

True, though CIN is in that same category and just might be turning things around with Burrow and their newest coach. Might.

The Jets O will be better, the D still has playmakers (though they lost or traded two of their best in the off-season).

But the injuries on O, the endless penalties on D, the unquestionably terrible coaching (I'm stunned by some of the guys out there getting snaps), and the oblivious and apathetic management are, I agree, a mountain to overcome.

I'm trying to buy him cheap. I could absolutely see a Tannehill-like rebound on a new team. He is still very young.

I agree with this idea(and hope it is true) Darnold is still only 23. I don't think he has been awful considering the coaches, the system, the management, the Oline, the WRs. I think in a new situation it could definitely turn around. I couldn't get a 1st for him this offseason so I didn't see any reason to sell. Figured I'd wait for the rebound or go down in flames.

There are quite a few places for him if any of the old QBs retire or are moved out. More places for him in the future than QBs coming into the league...I think.

It would be awful in Lawrence ended up on the NYJ. That team is rubbish and will need to completely change from the top down.

What do you consider to be cheap for him? Late 2nd? Early 3rd?

Time for people to start sending out some 5th round picks for Denzel Mims and Darnold.
