Jalen Guyton

Postby McCafsteez » Mon Sep 07, 2020 4:00 pm

Anything special here? He was an undrafted free agent signed to the Cowboys in April of 2019 but was then waived in August of 2019. Now he got picked up by the Chargers and seems to be having a good camp. Looks like he will get the start in place of Mike Williams. Guyton looks like a speedster with a 40 yard dash time of 4.35 on his Pro Day at North Texas. Other teammates fighting for playing time include rookies KJ Hill and Joe Reed.

Experience: 1 year / Height 6-1 / Weight 212 lbs / Age 23

Worth the flyer?

At this point of the season, it depends on who you would have to drop to get him. Have the roster space, sure
It may also be a case of familiarity with tyrod Taylor as he was on the LAC p.s. last season.
PPR IDP Contract Cap:
ConF (16 Team)
DAF (16 team)
DW2- Co-Commish (16 Team)

PPR IDP Salary Cap:

Meh. I'd assume KA, Ekeler and Henry just see more work in Williams absence.

He is my offseason sleeper. Definitely like what he could potentially bring to the table. Might be Travis Benjamin with upside to his big year.

Meh reminds me of Willis from the Bengals last year who was the UDFA week 1 starter and was cut 4 weeks later.

Hopefully they'll get Joe Reed some touches.

Roster size is important. In deeper league he should be rostered. Despite what we thought would be Reed vs Hill for the 3 spot it looks like he beat them both out and was running with the 1s in Williams absence. Obviously this isn't a great offense to be the 2nd WR in, but getting on the field is an opportunity. Once he gets on the field he could be terrible or he could surprise us and be worth it. At his current price I think he's got as good an opportunity as any.

I love it when users post about players who aren't on my radar. I had to look him up.

Jalen Guyton (no 'y' in Jalen). Great speed, great agility, long arms, OK size, smallish hands.

If he's available and you can acquire him for free, he's worth an add and stash. At worst, you drop him later. At best, he's worth a trade for a future pick. Nothing to lose, really.

In my 32 team league we have 29 roster spots (duplicate player pool) and this kid is available. I'm going to add him because of this thread. Nice job McCafsteez!

I too just added him for $1 (FAAB). Never heard of him previously either. Thanks! (especially if I can trade him for anything in the first half of the season)

+1. I just acquired for a minimum bid after this post made me do similar research. Thanks for the insight!

No problem fellas!

I ended up trading Peoples-Jones for a 4th and was able to keep Hill and pick up Guyton.

Feeling good on this.

Size, athleticism, the fact that he's "starting" and not much receiving depth helps a lot. I watched some of his college highlights and didn't really see anything too enticing, but who knows maybe he's really improved since entering the NFL. Picked him up in a few spots and hoping for the best.
