Seriously, what in the Seven Hells was the NFL thinking? They know FF is important to their bottom line, but then they come out with a schedule that has no teams with a week 12 bye and then have TB and CAR on a week 13 bye, right smack in a lot of FF leagues rd 1 playoffs.

It’s almost like they intentionally went out of their way to piss off FFers. Can anyone explain this rationally, and does anyone have any ideas on to best deal with the week 13 bye?

I guess there is more impetus to get the first round bye this year?

I didn't know FF played playoffs in week 13? Week 14 is when all of mine start. It is what it is. The unfortunate reality of playing a fake game based off a real game.

you start in week 13 so you don't have to play in week 17 when half the league sits it's stars. This has a massive impact on CMAC's status. very strange decision

None of mine play week 17. 14,15,16 is the playoffs. What formats start playoffs week 13?

All of my playoffs are week 14, 15 and finals in 16. So I'm not sure how starting playoffs in week 13 would work.

I'd say go to a 1 week championship for a year then, or keep it as is, and deal with it. Next year with the extra game, a 2 week playoff will work again, as long as they don't add a 2nd bye week. Although they may choose to give a bye week 14 with the added game.

Disregard me, was thinking of one specific league that does use week 13 as playoffs. Every other league starts in 14

The NFL has bigger things to worry about than how your fantasy football playoffs are impacted. Adjust accordingly.

Yeah, I'm sure they consulted to some degree, but more for the mainstream, which is 14, 15, 16 for the playoffs. Week 13 playoffs starts are a niche group, for sure.

Both of my leagues start playoffs week 14. The redraft I'm in does have a week 12-13 highest point prize...so maybe that will be affected now.

I'm guessing they wanted a full slate of games available Thanksgiving weekend (which is week 12 this year--was week 13 last year).

This is not the first time this has happened. We used to start playoffs in week 13 so that we could have our championship in week 15. We did that to be extra safe to avoid stars being benched even a partial game if a team had things cemented by week 16. Then 3ish seasons ago the NFL surprised us with a week 13 bye so we adjusted to a traditional 13 week regular season (playoffs 14-16) and have just kept it that way ever since assuming there would be more week 13 byes in the future.

Nothing supercedes business interests to the NFL, and attracting and keeping FF leagues is absolutely in their best business interest.
