Seems reasonable. though one has to question, if a bubble is needed then, why is it not before? Obviously we've already talked about the logistics of a bubble not being as viable for the regular season as it is in the NBA/NHL, but still.

The regular season allows for a lot more flexibility in the event of needing to reschedule a game. The playoffs can be a lot more negatively impacted by those kind of disruptions, and it's important financially for the games to happen at their scheduled times for TV, during the season you can just flex a new one in.

really? If one team misses 2 games, when will the games be rescheduled for?

A lot easier to figure out in the regular season and not completely mess up the schedule, than in the playoffs. Plus with the size of the rosters and staffs in football a 4 month bubble with all 32 teams will just be logistically impossible, it will be a lot easier to do with far fewer teams in a smaller time period. So far everything is going very well on the Covid front for the NFL anyway, so it looks like their protocols are working and they'll be able to get through the season without many, if any major incidents. The playoff bubble would just insure there are no disruptions for the teams, league or TV partners during the most important and profitable portion of the season.

Each team has a single bye week. If a team has to make up two games, not only are they then required to play more than 1 game per week, but so are potentially 2 other teams.

Yes that is exactly what I said

Right... So I said that its good that they are doing it for the playoffs, but concerning that they have to consider it. If their protocols are so great for seasonal play then they should be fine with the same protocols for the playoffs.

NFL has already said they've built into the calendar for the possibility of expanding the regular season for rescheduling games, they don't have a hard date for the SB that they are working backwards from and have to fit everything in beforehand.

Not sure I follow your logic here. Just because something is working so far doesn't mean they shouldn't be considering contingencies down the road. The fact that they specifically mention the playoffs for the bubble is not surprising. Once you set the playoff matchups, there is no wiggle room. There's also significantly less people to worry about, etc.

So again, why wouldn't they be considering contingencies and how could it be a bad thing?

So you think they would tack on 2 weeks onto the regular season, delay the playoffs, and have many teams have bye weeks while a team finishes up their regular season?

If that's what it takes and those games impact playoff races.

If additional games at the end of the season is the plan that sounds disastrous for fantasy purposes.

Introducing week 13 byes was also bad for ff, but they certainly didn't care. In my larger leagues, that's the 1st round of playoffs.

The thing to take away from this is plan ahead (with your rules)

The early signs are really encouraging, but it's too early to really say that it's working when nobody has gone on the road yet. Baseball is still having new cases every week and postponing games.

A thought I had was for them to schedule the entire NFL season in 4 game blocks. After game 4, have a league wide bye week. After game 8 (week 9), have another league wide bye week and so on. Would give everyone a chance to get their shiaaat together/healthy with what is essentially 2 week breaks a few times through the season. Those weeks could also be used for reschedules games if needed.

My league is opening up unlimited COVID IR spots as long as the player is reactivated when their NFL team activates them. Exception being the player must already be on your roster meaning no waiver wire stashes directly to the unlimited IR. Also, I was thinking if your players game gets cancelled/rescheduled they can be thrown on the COVID IR for that week even if healthy to make it easier to fill your fantasy roster. There is no need to have our fantasy schedule interrupted if only a couple teams or games aren’t able to go for that week. We just want to make it everything as easy as possible during this strange season.

Oh I don't really think the NFL should be making plans based on fantasy football (though I do think it's at least part of the equation given how it's exploded and grown the fan base). But given the topic of this thread is fantasy impact of Coronavirus this seems to be an eventuality that could cause some issues in fantasy leagues.

It's not. They would not have gone to 17 games if they cared. They don't care, because they know that FF fans will tag along. It's a very minor issue, and I guarantee you they don't make any decisions of any importance to cater to FF gamers.
