Thoughts on Rashaad Penny?
Re: Thoughts on Rashaad Penny?
Question hasn't ever been about ability, the guy can play. His problems have been earning playing time early in his career and being available at all recently.
Hopefully he can stay healthy and eat in Philly but playing at MetLife more often than most teams .. yikes

MetLife's turf is getting completely redone this offseason FWIW.nathanq42 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 2:26 pm Question hasn't ever been about ability, the guy can play. His problems have been earning playing time early in his career and being available at all recently.

Going with the new-gen field that the majority of the rest of the league is already on.

Penny or Gainwell?
Re: Thoughts on Rashaad Penny?
If they're both healthy - it's Penny quite easily.
But therein would lie the rub.
Re: Thoughts on Rashaad Penny?
It's gonna be a fun committee in Philly with Boston Scott returning too.

Re: Thoughts on Rashaad Penny?
Even the earning playing time part mostly stemmed from an inability to stay healthy.nathanq42 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 2:26 pm Question hasn't ever been about ability, the guy can play. His problems have been earning playing time early in his career and being available at all recently.

Dude averages 5.7 ypc for his career, which is bonkers. Of course his career consists of 337 carrys total. Last two years he’s been over 6 ypc. Would love for him to stay healthy for just one full year and show what his total year numbers could be. Talent is there.

He's a monster after contact too. 4.2 for his career, easily the best of the FA RB's.Jrblaha wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 4:35 pm Dude averages 5.7 ypc for his career, which is bonkers. Super smart low-risk signing by the Birds.
Re: Thoughts on Rashaad Penny?
I am thinking Penny is the biggest beneficiary for fantasy production of this years FA. Great landing spot for his skill set.
Even if its not a full season, he is going to have multiple RB1 weeks next year.
And if they do away with pushing the QB into the end zone, he could have decent TD value too.

If he was a fighter we would call him Glass Jaw.
No interest. Been there done that too many times.

Re: Thoughts on Rashaad Penny?
I'd probably throw a late 2nd. Or try two 3rds and see if anyone bites.
That Eagles O-line is dominant and Penny could do some damage... But if the over/under was 8.5 games played this season I'm taking the under.

Re: Thoughts on Rashaad Penny?
I'm hoping he has a couple huge weeks early and I can sell to a buyer that's somehow unaware of his injury history.
Re: Thoughts on Rashaad Penny?
Read an interesting piece by Noah Hills. Nick Sirianni’s history is he prefers to have a “workhorse” RB. Or a RB that see’s 60+% of the work. He’s been doing the committee backfield because that’s what the roster on Philly dictated.
I think Penny is a solid buy, everyone is injury prone until they aren’t. If Penny stays healthy (huge if) I think he’s virtually guaranteed to have a top 15 season in that offense. He’s a very good back.
I’m buying, when push comes to shove and philly needs to win, Penny is easily the best RB on the roster currently.

Re: Thoughts on Rashaad Penny?
Late 2nds or early 3rds are dart throws and I think penny is a better dart throw then anyone in that range. I’d buy for that price, but having him on my roster it’d take an early 2nd at a minimum to take him from me if eagles don’t add a good rb in the draft.halfbaked88 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 2:11 am I'd probably throw a late 2nd.
