Dynasty League Football Forum

To anyone who's interested I have a league that holds a real rookie draft 2 weeks before the NFL Draft. It gets posted posted here ion the forum every year so people can follow along to get a feel for real predraft rookie values. This league is heading into year 9 or 10 (i forget)and its a 1 QB, flex heavy, PPR, non IDP 14 team league with a $40 buyin. The draft itself is 7 rounds (98 total picks) All rookies and available FA's (not many FA's) are in the draft pool. Since this league goes so deep there is generally a list of drafted rookies that isn't even in MFL's system at the time we draft. The names of those rookies get added in the comments of the draft summary and in a thread on the league message board.
I only post this thread because I know lots of people enjoy following along and this league has spawned other leagues using the same format. If you're in the "why should I care about your league" camp my answer to is don't. I don't expect anyone to care but I'm asked to post this every year and the replies to each years thread are extensive. See for yourself... This year's draft starts this saturday April 11th as soon as the MFL maintenance is completed. Feel free to comment as you see fit. Tell us where we screwed up or what you like but PLEASE DON'T mention players still on the draft board. Wait until a player is drafted before referencing him by name.

Saw you get a shout out from the Podfather. Nice job. The Ancient Egyptian themed league I'm in is out of this world. You do some great work.

London Fog chiming in!

I took over an orphan in 2017 and started my rebuild with zero 1st round picks...it's not an approach i recommend! I took the position that this would take me several years and focused on assets according to their projected shelf life...so I wanted to come out of the dispersal draft with QB locked down, then a solid foundation in WR without wasting much on RB (check) and ignoring TE completely.

So far this looks like:
2017: 9-17
2018: 11-15
2019: 14-12 and a playoff spot!

With respect to drafting:

Last year I went with N'Keal Harry at 1.04...but also Preston Williams at 3.03. I'm hoping both of those give me more in 2020. This year I'll be in the #9 spot with an extra 5th thrown in.

As a final comment: many people have said over the years that it is the DLF forum that has contributed the most to their growth and understanding of dynasty. that is certainly true for me and, in particular, i always followed this thread specifically each year. the insight of the owners, the commitment of the commish and the board discussion spawned have always been a highlight for me. I hope it has that effect on someone else new to dynasty at some point the way it did for me!

Last year 1.01 takes Hakeem Butler. The comment: "Early on I had Josh Jacobs as my 1.01... but the more film I watched of Butler and time spent researching, it became an easy choice for me."

Yeeeuuup, thats exactly what I'm hoping I get to make fun of. For as much hype as Butler was getting, he also had more red flags than a Chinese parade.

How dare you post this and then make us wait two days for the first pick. For anybody unfamiliar, Mark's graphics work is awesome- one of my leagues started using his stuff and it looks great.

Indiana Icepicks here and I joined last off season through a dispersal draft - then did an immediate tear down and have 23 picks so Bot101 and others will surely has some fun at my expense . This league has unlimited off season rosters(the only way way to run a dynasty league ) so I loaded up on picks and need help pretty much across the board . With 3 top 7 picks and 7 or the top 21 this is a great class to build a foundation. Mark is a terrific commish and the graphics and his repsponse time to any league questions or issues is 2nd to none in my 10 going into 11 years of dynasty experience .

I loved watching this progress last year. Made some good memories. Looking forward to the chaos yet again.

Let this installment of our draft forever be known as Garypalooza. Its going to be very interesting come cutdown day this fall when we have to be down to 25 plus 3 man taxi. I'll definitely be paying close attention to see who I can swing a deal for or vulture from you as that time gets close
