Hopkins/1.01 for Mah... make that Lamar

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Hopkins/1.01 for Mah... make that Lamar

Postby Edgy68 » Fri Feb 14, 2020 11:08 pm

For Panthers, I plan to use the 1.01 on Burrow regardless, but does this get me close in a superflex?

Edit: This has to refocus on Lamar. The Mahomes owner came back with the following response, so we have nothing further to discuss:
It would have to be a haul. Wentz, elliott, 1.01, 2020 1st and 2021 1st.

That's the kind of deal I'd need to sell Mahomes in superflex. More than fair, in fact I'd ask for Mahomes + 2nd back.

I'd hold Mahomes, but it's worth a shot. I think Hopkins has peaked, personally, so I would decline, but it's worth a shot. Many view Hopkins higher in Dynasty than me.

This is my dilemma. The owner in question is notoriously difficult to deal with, even though he is a friend. Exactly how much more, most likely in the form of another player or that 1.08, would you be willing to add from my team?

Mahomes in superflex requires an overpay. I’m willing to do it because I think it vaults me into contention next year and is a move that isn’t just for a one year push.
I have the WR depth to cover for the loss of pets from Hopkins.
My friend is a Bengals fan and, even though it’s not set in stone, CIN takes Burrow is highly likely.

I’m comfortable putting Burrow on my squad, but he is a rookie and may not produce 1st year, if at all. I believe he will be able to handle the NFL, but that’s all it is right now, a belief. But this could be a monumental moment for my team moving forward.

I would add one of Henry, Engram, Lindsay and the 1.08 pretty comfortably. They're in order by preference for me. The order of them isn't so much about value as it is your depth at each position. I'd even be okay with giving 2 of them. They hold decent value but are borderline throw ins when you're talking about Mahomes. But that's it. If that doesn't get it done and he wants another one of your big pieces, I'd probably shift my focus to a slightly cheaper option like Watson or somebody. In the interest of preserving some value and your depth.

I like the way you think, Zacsby.

Side note for the forum: would it be wise to use the same idea to get Lamar? It has to shift to Lamar based on Mahomes owner's response.

Let’s focus on Lamar please. The Mahomes thing is dead.

Lamar might not be much cheaper but it's worth a shot. I would offer a similar "max package" to the one we put together for Mahomes to get Lamar or Watson as well. Those are the big 3 game changers at QB for me. Obviously start low and work your way up. If you don't land one of the big 3 I'd probably just sit on the 1.01. People might change their tune as we approach the draft and if not it's no big deal. I've always liked Stafford a lot. Long as he comes back healthy I don't think many QBs will be significant enough upgrades over him to make it worthwhile.

I would not pay 1.01 and Hopkins for Lamar. Mahomes is different. Not Lamar. I think he had his career year, and I don't trust him long term.

Nah, Lamar is different too. People are gonna stereotype him and lump him in with other mobile QBs who have flashed and then fizzled out. In order to do that you'd have to pretty much ignore the fact that nobody has come ANYWHERE close to doing the things he did on the field last year. For me, he's a transcendent talent with room for improvement. And seeing the leaps he made as a passer from year one to year two I see no reason why he can't make more.

With your depth at WR, I'd easily pay a 28 year old Hopkins and a rookie QB we don't even know how good will be for him.
