Andrew Luck

Postby The Showstopper » Tue Dec 17, 2019 5:53 am

You guys think Andrew Luck changes his mind and plays next year?
I’ve had him on my roster all year and just couldn’t drop him!
Picked up Gronk last week just to throw him on my roster in case he changes his mind....

There's no way to know. But considering he retired like five minutes before the season began, I'm gonna go ahead and say no, he does not return next season.

Picked him up a couple weeks ago. Our rosters expand soon, figured it is worth a shot. Hopefully a season off healing and Indy doing better than expected, ignites a fire in him.

The odds are that neither come back.
The circumstances which make me question whether luck would come back are:
1) the is was a sudden decision after much frustration with injury- which after a year maybe helped?? (no idea on that)
2) the colts didn't take back the guarantees of his contract- leaving the door open for an easy return

It is actually very interesting how far off the radar Luck has been post retirement announcement. I have not heard a peep about him.

With that said, 95% likelihood he never even considers it, given the fact that he was retiring to avoid rehabbing. He still is in contact with Brissett though, so he loves the game and acts as a mentor.

On Gronk, I think there is a greater likelihood he returns, but it is still minimal. His commentary about how New England is the most miserable top record team suggests to me that he doesn't want to return to that culture. Probably robs him of the joy of playing, which is what he said he would need to consider a return. Then there's also the fact that he has lost a ton of weight.

I have a different perspective here. I think gronk is both less likely to come back, and on top of that I think it’s less than 5% chance gronk comes back to fantasy relevance. The guy is beat up, and like you said lost a bunch of weight. I just plain don’t see it.

Luck on the other hand, I’d say if I have to call it whether he comes back? I’d guess no. But it’s more like 30-40% chance he does imo. And if he does, and he’s healthy, boom, immediate relevance. At least in comparison.

I think you're burning two roster spots needlessly, as the opportunity cost isn't worth it. It's very unlikely either Luck or Gronk will return, and even then, their production / dynasty value is unlikely to be worth all the prospects you passed up on holding onto them.

Agree here. Although I am holding Luck still in a 16 team 2QB league with 53 man rosters.

Sure, Luck might be worth a shot in such a deep 2QB format, but probably not worth it in shallow 1QB formats.

I would add Kelly if you wanted to burn a spot on a QB. They have an easy out for Brissett and Kelly has all the tool of a great QB unfortunately he is a bonehead off the field.

If you're in a league with 53 roster spots, then Luck and Gronk are absolutely worth holding for another year.
