i would say fill your offensive starting req. first...get 2 good backups and then maybe IDP..... let someone else pick a LB too early.

If there's an RB out there that should be on a team, I'd get him first. I'd take a top LB like Willis about the same time I'd take a top TE.

It is best to not take Willis. Taking Willis typically means you reached for him over an offensive player and you will have one of the bottom teams. Especially in a 10 team league that only starts 2 LB. Get the offensive talent and forget Willis... there are plenty of LB's

So you wouldn't take a top 5 TE either? I mean, I took Witten at the end of the 6th and I was happy with that. I think Willis is okay in the 6-7 but earlier, you should be taking the last of the starter RB/WR's.

The original poster asked when a good time to take Willis is. If he fills out his entire offensive lineup, he risks someone else taking Willis. He's at the point in the draft where he decides which direction to go - -if I really wanted Willis, I would opt to take him, and then take my chances with the TEs that fall to the next round or two.

I have seen Willis go 2-3 rds earlier in some drafts I've been in, so I would whole-heartedly take Willis with your next pick and deal with the TE later on.

I've been through 3 full IDP startups in 2009 and 2010. In all three, the person who took Willis finished dead last. Willis is great to have starting on your team at LB, but he won't help you fill the weakness on offense that you skip to take him and that offensive weakness will cause you to lose. Just some food for thought.

On one team, I have Patrick Willis, Jerod Mayo, and Rolando McClain. How did I get all those studs (and potential stud?) - I took them all in the rookie draft.

Get a good solid set of defenders this season, and build your defense into a juggernaut through the draft (and deft free agency signings)
