IDP Player Value Question - Joey Bosa

Hey all,

I am trying to gauge approximate value of IDP players in an abstract sense. We are working on adding IDP players to the Trade Analyzer, and I want to see if there is a consensus for player equivalent value in a fairly generic, standard IDP league - if there is such a thing. But because we are not going into the rabbit hole of trying to configure all of the league specific settings for IDP leagues in the TA when examining player trades, we need to keep IDP player valuation as generic as possible. So... I'd like to ask a series of player value questions to the IDP community here to get a feel for what everyone is thinking.

So, first player/question.

Joey Bosa

Give me two or three WR's in a PPR dynasty league who you think represents approximately equal value for Joey Bosa. So... if you were trading for Bosa or trading Bosa away, what do you think a fair trade would look like - if the other player was a WR?

Thanks!

In my main 2 IDP leagues we use tackle heavy scoring and sacks are worth 4 points. Off the top of my head, I could see him going for Alshon if a team needed a solid veteran wr. As far as younger guys, I'm thinking maybe in the range of Curtis Samuel and Christian Kirk? Hope this helps, it's honestly hard to gauge because everyone always wants a premium for stud IDPs in those leagues.

We're pretty heavy in idp scoring. I'd guess Diggs/Thielen range? If it helps, JJ watt was traded for 3 1st round picks in a 10 team league

In a 14 team league 10 starters on each side and pretty heavy idp scoring he went at the end of the 5th last year, I would assume not much change since then, maybe down a little due to injury

This sounds similar to my leagues.

I traded 2 late firsts and a future 2nd for Joey Bosa a couple months ago and I was thrilled.

Joey Bosa is worth the 1.02 in this year’s draft easily.

To answer OP’s question, in my league he would be equivalent to DJ Moore, Calvin Ridley, whoever your WR1 from this class is, maybe Golladay, Pettis+, Godwin+, etc

I think for the trade analyzer you would need to have a idp "light" scoring and "heavy" scoring options (similar to ppr or non ppr) my early idp leagues where 1 pt tackles, but my current ones are 2.5-3.5 points (depending on position)

good luck with that.
in one league he went among kupp, robinson and lockett.
in another one he went between randall cob and damion willis.

edit: thinking about it, i would just focus on leagues where IDPs are almost as valuable as offensive players, for leagues were top IDP talent goes with WR fliers you don't really need a trade calculator...

So, what are you doing with def players, I know it's been mentioned a few times but Campbell's performance last night got me 55 points in 1 league, 20 in another. I doubt any offensive scoring differs that greatly

I agree with the feelings communicated here. I play in an IDP heavy scoring according to most people (5pts for INT, 4pts for sack, +1pt for TFL/PD etc). However, our offensive players generally score more too for other bonuses (1st downs etc.) and our QBs are weighed the heaviest. Our top defensive player (D. Leonard) was ranked 23rd, but he went nuts and the next best wasn't until 38th. 17 QB's and 5 RBs were ahead of Leonard. The top ranked DE wasn't until 76th.

Who would be traded for Bosa in my league? Using DLFs rankings maybe like DJ Moore (younger) / TY Hilton (vet) type guy? I guess maybe some teams in my league might go as high as (based on DLF rankings) - B. Cooks / S. Diggs but I doubt it. Things would vary drastically based on teams roster construction.

I feel like most of our DE's get traded in package deals so it's tough to give good examples.
