Just sold Sammy Watkins... fair value?

Sad day. One of the few remaining OG's (and the only rookie) from my 2014 startup is no more. Still a Sammy fan, but with my other WRs + the possibility of him no longer being a Chief after this season, I figured now was the time to sell before he potentially slips further in value.

Sold for the 2.03 + 2020 2nd (I'd guess 2.04 - 2.08 range) to a team whose top 3 WR's are Tyler Lockett, Will Fuller, and Curtis Samuel (after that... Zay Jones?). Felt fair but idk, I know there's a wide spectrum of opinions out there on Sammy. It's funny cause I feel like Sammy is easily still worth that return if not more, but at the same time, I'd have a tough time paying that for him. But maybe that's just the rookie fever talking. This being a 10-team league (team in sig), there could be a rookie WR or two available at 2.03 whom I might consider equal to Sammy in value.

Anyway, since I don't make many trades (1-2 per year) I figured I'd ask here. Regardless of if it was good for my team or not... fair trade?

Seems pretty fair, and it's not like you needed Watkins given your WRs. I like it.

I like the deal with your wr core. Watkins is just never going to be the guy he was the back half of his rookie year again in my opinion.

Phew... well I appreciate the early positive feedback, thanks! Honestly I like the guy I traded with and want to keep him as a trade partner, so this is one of those cases where I hope Sammy keeps it up a bit and the trade works out for him. He initially mentioned his 2.03 + "something else", and I suggested his 2020 2nd thinking he would counter back with just a 3rd or a fringe-roster player or something like that. But then he just said "sure" and that was it. Felt odd, I almost wanted to add something small back at the end just as a courtesy lol. I still might, idk.

I like it. Sammy's best days are behind him, and they were not that great to begin with.

Seems fair on both sides, but as said above you just don't need Sammy at this point and you got good value for him. Tough giving up those OG guys though, totally understand that

Fair enough I think. I drafted Sammy at 1.01 and have always been higher on him that anyone in my league. Not sure I could’ve pulled the trigger but that’s probably because I’ll always overvalue him.

Yeah it was really the combination of my current WRs (small chance I would ever start him in 2019 and likely beyond) + besides myself, my whole league has always had minimal interest in Sammy at best. Even if he has a good start to this season, I don't think I was ever gonna get the 1st round value that I was looking for. So I figured it was now or never to get some value on him.
