Firts Time IDP'er and a trade offer...

Postby TheFlyingLineman » Tue May 31, 2011 1:07 pm

Team in sig.

I have an owner who is interested in acquiring Torain and Royster. I'm EXTREMELY weak at RB, but I'm still open to dealing them as I don't see them making that big of a difference. I will include his roster below, but I was thinking something like Nick Fairley and a 2012 1st or 2nd. Am I asking too much? SHould I be targeting somebody else on his team? I'm open to any advice. Thanks!

I think there is a good chance Royster doesn't make the roster.
Looks like it's a DL starting requirement, so I wouldn't target a DT.

I'd ask for A.Green for both of them and see what he says. You don't have the salary cap amount for Torain and Royster, so it's tough to judge the salaries against each other. Looks like you have a classic handcuffer on the hook.

First of all, I don't like that trade for you. Never trade offensive players for defensive players, unless the scoring is IDP heavy.

Second, rookie DT's hardly ever make an impact. (N Suh was the exception, rather than the rule). DE's are the guys that you want to target. But, It usually takes Dl's (DT's or DE's) a few years to make a great impact.

Third, trading Torain and Royster (who, I read , that Shanahan says he reminds him fo a young Terrell Davis...real or not, who knows) weakens your RB's. You are not particularly strong in that area. A lot of Backups, except Gore.

If you were to trade them, you would need to get a RB in any deal. IMO Any chance you could get a Forte if YOU added something to Torain and Royster?

I agree with what Yumbo says, dont trade offense for a defensive player, especially a rookie.

Try to package Torain, Royster and I would try to add Mario Williams. He will be moved to LB this year and wont have as much impact on your scoring. Trade him now to someone who may not realize it is coming and you could get a nice price for him.

But you do need to get an RB or 2 back in the deal If you are going to trade with this team then if you can get Forte or McFadden (and I have a feeling you wont) then I would target Alex Green and Joe McKnight.

I think both of those guys have a shot to produce, if not in 2011, then definitely in 2012.

Only trade M.Williams if the other guy is giving close to DE1 value. M.Williams will play WLB this year, but this is the last year of his contract. He will either be traded to a 4-3 team or leave in free agency to a 4-3 team and be a top DE again. Therefore, if you aren't getting value for him... hold him and he should pay off next year.

I dont think Houston lets Williams go either way. I think he is athletic enough to be a decent LB, just dont think he will produce enough stats to be an IDP stud. Of course there is a chance he does go back to DE at some point, but by trading him now I think you get good value for him.
