Take which deal on a rebuilding SF team?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Take which deal on a rebuilding SF team?

Postby Chris_R » Thu May 16, 2019 7:56 pm

Deal 1:

Give: Jameis Winston, Royce Freeman, Antonio Brown, Brandin Cooks, 1.2, and 3.6

Receive: Patrick Mahomes

Deal 2:

Give: Antonio Brown, Lesean McCoy

Receive: Dak Prescott, 2.7

Obviously deal 1 gives up a ton, and I'd be rebuilding after so looking at a top 2 pick. We obviously can start 2 QB's, Mahomes had nearly 500 points, 1 other QB had over 400, and elite skill position players are getting 300-330 points a year. Deal 2 I can semi compete right away depending on Jameis and Dak, and I have pick 1.2 to take Jacobs most likely for the one RB we start. Deal 1 would be a multi year process but I'm not too high on a lot of those guys minus Cook. I still have Mike Williams and as the WRs I can start and no RB to rely on. Which way would you lean? Is Deal 1 giving up too much or worth the price?

I'd say take Mahomes.... No better player to build around in SF. But Id have to see the rest of your team.

Get Mahomes. The Dak deal is solid too

Thanks, pretty crappy though so I didn't list it. Only other QB on the roster is Tannehill. RB's are Dion Lewis and Shady McCoy. WR's are Mike Williams, Jarvis Landry, Cooks, AB, Agholor, Hunter Henry at TE. You can start as little as 1 RB, or 1 WR, and as many as 3 of each. It's a takeover so I honestly don't mind sucking for a few years especially with the drafts coming up. My roster would probably be bad enough to land Tua next year.

Way too much for Mahomes, IMO. It's one thing to build around Mahomes; it's another to have Mahomes and no other assets. One player alone cannot win you a league.

Deal 2 is closer. In theory, Brown should be worth more than Dak. But I wouldn't begrudge you for accepting that one.

Mahomes trade is a good way to stay rebuilding. That is way to heavy. Dak is a better deal for you. You have Dak, Winston, you can grab another qb at 1.02 at least that is the way I would go there. I might even package 1.2 and something like Cooks + to move up and get Murray. I would at least try to. You would be in a much better spot with the Dak trade even though it's a little light as well.

I think deal 1 is entirely too much to give up for Mahomes. Deal 2 is better but it just feels like you are selling a bit low on AB.
