I'm hoping that's true. I traded the 1.01 for what's nearly certain to be top 2 next year, and the 1.02 for what is certainly a top 3 pick.

I know you can't accurately project how a team will finish, but these teams are baaad. I'll gladly take a top four 2020 pick in those deals.

I always cringe when I see people try and predict picks a year away.

Guy in my league once completely gutted his team at the deadline only to miraculously sneak into the playoffs on a TWO freaky ties week 13 then win out in the playoffs.

Just go BPA with all of them. And this was the year to get a TE, next years class not nearly as good.

Doing these sort of trades is not for the faint of heart. I once saw a team go 1-6 through the first 8 weeks, win his next 6 to get in, and then win out during the playoffs to take home the championship. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable trading a 1.01-1.03 for a potential early pick next year, but it is one of my favorite things to do to package my next year 1st (once I'm pretty sure I'm a playoff team) and a low level player to a team fighting for the playoffs that I don't think will make it. Usually ends up being a 1.09-1.12 + easily replaceable player for a 1.01-1.06.

Not without risk, but a relatively inexpensive way to move up in the draft.

Yes always take BPA. Now BPA will probably roughly lineup with your strategy anyway in this draft, but don't pass on superior players to fill a position of need. Add the best/most valuable players and then you can trade use that extra value to trade for your needs.

I was in a league with him. We called him the fantasy hipster because he was always going for fringe prospects over actual players. Doesn't mean he was always wrong, though. Definitely knowledgeable.

While I don't think that is likely, I don't think it's impossible either. Etienne is firmly my RB3 in this class, and think he's a lot more likely to move down than move up.

He posts here, or used to at least. He has a lot of strong takes, some right and some wrong. A few years ago he said one wr was the best in the class or something and then he didn’t even make an nfl roster so he has his hits and misses
