Who has the athletic profile combined with inability to play football that Darius Heyward-Bey did? Seek out that player and you shall find your answer....

For the record, I don't know either. But whoever that player is, Gruden is probably locked in on him. The force-ghost of Al Davis is real.

What would even qualify as a surprise type pick at 4? I guess a reach would make it a surprise, and a player at a position not thought to be a priority.

The obvious non-surprises would be QB Murray, DT Williams, DE Bosa or Allen. Priority positions, non reaches.

Various Edge, DT, LB, OTs wouldn’t really be any kind of notable surprise. If they took Sweat, Gary, Burns, Ferrell, Oliver, Lawrence, White, Bush, Taylor, Dillard, J Williams, they would mostly all qualify as slight reaches but not really notable surprises. Also all priority positions.

A middling surprise would be one of the elite TEs, Hockenson or Fant, because it would be a strong reach. Priority position.

A stronger surprise would be a position like S, CB, C this year. No super elite prospects at any of those positions, so it would be surprising if they reached that far for the likes of Greedy, Murphy, Baker, Adderly, Bradbury. Secondary priority positions.

WR would be a major reach at 4. None of them are good enough to belong that high this year, and it isn’t a major position of need ASAP for them. DK would be the only one with the “upside” to go there, and would also be a major surprise because they could get him or another similar talent later. Marquise Brown or Paris Campbell would be a Ghost of Al Davis pick and a major surprise.

QB other than Murray at 4 would be a huge surprise as well.

But the biggest surprise would be an RB there. It would be by far the biggest reach, in a down year, at a priority position but also one that can be easily handled with one of their 3 picks in the late 1st/early 2nd. Josh Jacobs or Miles Sanders at 4 would surprise anyone. Do it Jon boy

It is also worth noting that this is mere speculation.

My best guess is Ed Oliver or Quinnen Williams.

Or it will be DK Metcalf, just to troll me.

However - I think Mayock is there to help reel in Gruden's wild side. I hope.

I'm leaning Haskins (who they've met with 3 times) or DK.

If they draft Haskins there will be a hole in my TV.

I think the big surprise will be that there is no surprise just smoke.

If Gruden legitimately has the final say; I think it could be a big "wtf" move.
If Mayock gets the final say; I think it will be a more believable pick.

I used to like the Raiders. They were never my favorite team, but I always liked when they were relevant. I also kind of liked Gruden as an announcer ... I can’t put my finger on it, but now I just want to see them crash and burn. I guess it’s nonsense like this that made me turn.

This one rings the bell as the best combination of biggest surprise and most possible.
