Ice wrote: Tue Apr 23, 2019 5:04 am The QB not named Murray that seems to be rocketing up in value is Daniel Jones. I just spent some time evaluating him and he has the makings of a very good NFL QB. He is kind of a mixture of Josh Allen and Carson Wentz. His arm strength doesn't show like those two but his movement in the pocket and out of the pocket does. His touch looks better than either of those. He is very athletic for a QB his size.

That would be a player that would surprise me at 4.
You and I are oil and water when it comes to QBs, lol.

I mean what would be more Raiders-like than DK Metcalf at #4?

Biggest "surprise" pick IMO is drafting Josh Jacobs that high. I'd be shocked if he wasn't available to later in the 1st but there has been some hype he could go as early as the teens, Gruden may think he wants to secure him? It would arguably be the funniest and dumbest draft pick I've seen in a really long time.

I agree. This has QB written all over it.
What does? Nothing has happened. Rappaport has become a hack. He's just speculating based on this. He blew the AB to the Bills thing, and La Confora shot it down, NFL Network had egg on their face for that. There is a perfectly logical explanation. They don't trust the scouting department, who was put together by a GM who is no longer there. They also don't know who, if any, they will bring back. There is no incentive for the Raiders brass to let them know what they are doing. They've compiled all the info, and exhausted the scouting departments use. It's up to Gruden and Mayock now.

Also, if the Raiders made it seem like they were interested in a QB at 4, it would give another team incentive to trade up to 3 to get one, and that would allow another defensive player to fall to 4. That could be another possibilty, but I'm just specualting as well. There may be a surprise pick, but as I said earlier, Rappaport has no information about it. He's just guessing, and playing the odds, because there is no downside if he's wrong.

As Freak said - this "secret surprise" is literally nothing more than speculation by a reporter.

Now it can be reported to be a surprise when they go with a pick consensus would pick...so it’s 100% reportable as a surprise pick.

We all are. As are you. Let's just hope Gruden and Mayock aren't still guessing, too.

The OP was "Who is Gruden's potential secret surprise pick?". Figured I should answer that question. Don't think it's outlandish to guess QB given Gruden's infatuation with quarterbacks and the edge it gives a team to have cheap production for the length of a rookie contract.

If this is the case.....please Arizona, take Bosa. I would love for the Niners to be a beneficiary of a tradeback with The Raiders.

The real super secret:

There is legitimate chatter out there that the Raiders want Dwayne Haskins, Daniel Jeremiah confirmed it today.
They have done a lot of work with Haskins to support this.

This is all to encourage a team to leapfrog the Raiders to go get Haskins - and then they draft Quinnen Williams.

Smokescreen season.

You'd like to think that, but the Raiders are definitely going to bleep this up.
