Projected WR1s - who are they

Postby Wizard » Thu Mar 14, 2019 6:19 pm

I've got a pretty high draft position but I'm thinking about trading down and hopefully picking up a future WR1, but who would that be? I'm talking about someone that has a real shot at being a WR but isn't there yet. Christian Kirk? I hear a lot of talk of Golladay being a WR1? What receiver(s) do you see as growing into a WR1 in the next 2 years. No rookies, we don't know where they are going yet so it would be a total guess.
QB -Tom Brady, Nick Foles Deshaun Watson

RB - Kenyan Drake, Darrius Guise, Tevin Coleman, Leonard Fournett, Kareem Hunt, Justin Jackson, Jaylen Samuels, Carlos Hyde, Duke Johnson Jr., Jordan Wilkins, CJ Anderson, Chris Warren,

WR - Davante Adams , T.Y. Hilton, Courtland Sutton, Devin Funchess, Doug Baldwin, Michael Crabtree, Antonio Callaway, J’Mon Moore, Dylan Cantrell, Keith Kirkwood, James Richie

TE - Zach Ertz, Harris Demetrius, Hayden Hurst

I doubt that trading down from a high draft pick this year nets you someone who has a real shot at becoming a WR1 in the next two years. Brandin Cooks, Kenny Golladay, or Corey Davis have a real shot and maybe even Calvin Ridley or Courtland Sutton. But those guys will cost you a lot more. You might be able to get a longshot but in that case you might as well gamble on a rookie.

I'm hoping on rookie fever to kick in and get someone to overpay, isn't that what we're supposed to do if we have a really high pick? Lol, yeah I probably will need to add something but I've got to figure out who to target firs but I am really hoping to get someone to overpay.

Just to give you some perspective, the 1.01 owner approached me about Golladay. I told him I’d need more than just the 1.01. We briefly agreed on 1.01 + 2.01 but then he got cold feet. So if you’re expecting to get a potential WR1 with an early 2019 1st, you’re probably better off just using the pick.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

I think Tyler Boyd is a possibility to be in this conversation. I love his price this offseason, and am attempting to buy where I don't own.

Value is subjective, all it takes is someone valuing rookie picks very high. Not uncommon :)

To OP, just browsing rosters in my league the following come to mind as players that could move into the WR1-ballpark, where an early first should/could spark interest:
Golladay
Godwin
Boyd
Corey Davis
Kupp
DJ Moore
Sutton

And to some degree (they need to add to the player)
Westbrook
James Washington

FWIW, I was in desperate need of a potential #1 and traded my 2019 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (all mid-high picks) for Godwin about a month ago. I thought it was a good deal then, but his price likely increased now that Djax and Humpries are gone.

I'd also add Pettis as a potential #1...or at least a #1 in his offense. Many owners are extremely high on him and I just traded the 1.08 for him and an early 3rd which i thought was a good deal for me especially since the OBJ rumors are gone.
14 team 1QB, PPR, TE premium:
QB: Watson, Mayfield
RB: Guice, Mixon, G. Edwards, D. Foreman, Darrell Williams, Walton, McKissic, Clement, Mike Boone
WR: Godwin, Callaway, Gallup, Goodwin, Ryan Grant, Zay Jones, ESB, James Washington, Javon Wims, Seth Roberts, Trent Sherfield, R. Matthews
TE: Ian Thomas, Dalton Schultz, Virgil Green, Vernon Davis

Good list. I also agree with other poster who added Pettis.

I don't think Kirk will be a WR1 ever, but I do think he will be a nice consistent producer.

I'm not high on Boyd still, but I took forever to accept Tyreek Hill as a real thing (not comparing the two, just saying that I'm wrong plenty often ). I have soured on Corey Davis as well. Talent is there I think team and QB holding him back.

Cooper Kupp, Chris Godwin, DJ Moore, Tyler Boyd are some of my favorite targets. DJ Moore is someone I value above the 1.01. He was my top WR in the class last year and if I saw him in this draft he'd be my top WR this year too.

I agree with the likes of Boyd and DJ Moore

A guy that hasn't been mentioned but I think will explode is Mike Williams.
