This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Barkley and OBJ Trade

Postby BradyT » Mon Jan 28, 2019 6:05 pm

The Barkley trade was for the team in sig. :

I gave: Zeke, Guice, 2019 3rd

Got: Barkley

------------------------------------------------------

A few minutes ago, I also traded for OBJ, though in a different league:

I gave: LeVeon Bell, 2019 2nd(non IDP League)

Got: OBJ

Team:
Mariota,Carr,Rosen
Barkley,Gurley,Fournette,Damien Williams,Carson,Foreman
OBJ,Evans,Green,Landry,Kirk,Shepard(NYG),Sanu,Doctson
TE:Ertz,Gesicki

--------------------------------------------------------------

The way I look at the Barkley trade: due to depth, I think I could afford paying Guice and a 3rd for the no 1 dynasty assett, who is two years younger and has zero off field stuff.

The OBJ trade went down fairly quick, didnt even take 10 mins. I Offered Bell straight up, got rejected. Offered Bell and a 2nd, immediately accepted. I hope I didnt miss anything on OBJ..

It will be interesting to see what kind of Barkley trades will go down this off season. Pretty much the hottest name in FF/dynasty circles.

I made the exact same OBJ trade but without the 2nd ( Pre-OBJ injury and Pre Final Bell holdout) and my league had a meltdown so I'd say you did pretty good. Lev's 0 line will never be as good and you clearly had the RB depth.

I also own Barkley and wouldn't have moved for the package either ( I would have before the whole Guice multiple surgery, might not be ready for next year thing).

Great job imo.

Barkley trade isn't bad but I can't help but feel that Zeke to Barkley will be closer to a lateral move next year. I definitely like Barkley over Zeke but giving up Guice seems like it could backfire. You're buying Barkley at the highest price possible basically.

Love the OBJ trade

I don't like the Barkley trade. If Guice becomes an RB1, you lose that deal by a landslide.

Agree. Guice could potentially jump Fournette on your depth. Barkley and Guice were 1+2 in a lot of drafts. But I would love to sell bell for obj so that works. I can’t get a bite yet

The OBJ trade was great. I think I’d keep Zeke and Guice. I don’t think the difference between Zeke and Barkley is Guice.

Agree with what everyone has said. Difference between Zeke and Barkley is proly a second round pick, not Guice. Saquon is only slightly better than Zeke (albeit younger) but Guice has RB1 upside. Not sure I’d do that deal for Saquon. Odell trade is a steal though.

Thanks for the inout guys. I agree, I overpaid for Saquon based on perceived value. But for me it came down to this:

- having ranked Saquon as the no 1 RB and no 1 overall dynasty player
- having Zeke ranked as the no 3 RB and the 5th overall dynasty player(#1Saquon,#2 Gurley,#3Hopkins,#4OBJ)
- while not enough, the thought of "jumping" from #5 to #1 while "only" paying Guice for it, who has good potential, but who suffered an ACL immediately after entering the NFL, who had knee issues in college and who had some kind of post surgery problems
- Saquon being two years younger and absolutely zero signs of off field stuff(something that cant be said about Zeke)
-having the depth while still trying to improve/upgrade my allready quality roster(which I think I´m doing with Saquon over Zeke)
-And answering my own question if I would make the trade the other way around clearlx with no.

His board message was:

"Willing to move a WR1(or a bundle) for a true RB1"

When I saw this, I offered Bell, gor rejected. Then I added the pick, done deal.
Maybe he is/was a little bit afraid of Odells divaism(if there is such a word) after hearing about the same from Antonio Brown all off-season. Adding Odells fair share of injuries and Eli getting up there, could be reasons that contributed to his decision to trade OBJ.
