Sneaky QB Sleepers - 2019

Any guys that could have sneaky value in 2019?

Maybe guys that don't have a starting role at the moment but have a clearer path to a starting job than others?

Examples:

Tyrod?
Dobbs/Rudolf?
Mullens?
Joseph "Elite" Flacco?

Who do you guys expect?

Teddy Bridgewater is cheap/free. He could very well be starting for someone next year.

Josh Rosen is a sneaky QB sleeper.

I don't think he'll make the jump to starter territory but he could be a bye week fill in.

This offense was putrid, running the least amount of plays in the league, and Wilks/McCoy are now gone.

Kliff Kingsbury is coming from college and bringing in an air raid style offense that also incorporates easy completions to his WRs on the edge. Give this article a read if you want to know more about Kingsbury and his scheme.

Thanks for the info - will look out for Rosen as a buy-low (already rostered)

Btw - just spent entirely too much time on that website (draftnetwork) & I see that continuing lol

- Flacco, Foles, Tannehill, Dalton: all guys who should probably have jobs next season...whether as a full-time or bridge QB.

- Bridgewater: I think he was an average QB when he was healthy and I imagine that's what he'll continue to be...now whether he's starter material? I think I'd believe teams would rather take a chance on Flacco, Foles and even a Tannehill or Dalton (if he becomes available).

- Mullens: SF's QB coach just became Denver's OC...could be a longshot...but that same guy brought Mullens to Shanahan's attention. The kid had some really good games + some meh ones but I think he showed enough to be a starter in this league....he ended up with above average passing stats for a bad 49ers team. Besides TD/INT, his numbers are very similar to Baker Mayfield's....not saying that Mullens is better or equal but still something of note.

- Tyrod: we saw how much better Cleveland was without him than with him...sure some of that can be blamed on Jackson/Haley but Tyrod didn't better his case.

- Rudolph: should already be rostered and I think if he's given the chance, he could be a starter.

- Fitzmagic: he cannot be killed with traditional weapons and somehow finds a way to play some games here and there.
--------------------------------------------

With Haskins, Lock, Jones and Murray all "supposedly" being taken/mocked in Round 1...a lot of these guys who get signed may not have a very long leash until the rookies get thrown to the wolves.

This is a solid point. If you are in a deep league (16 teams +) and relying on a "bridge" QB as your bye week guy...you'd better hope the bye week is early. The leash is sooooo short these days. My QB2 is Case Keenum in a 16 team league, which essentially means I need to be looking for another QB.

the correct answer of course is none of the above - all the vets are uninspiring and
the Cards will be a frigging train wreck !

Derek Carr might have some upside. Not sure if you can still get him cheap, but he seemed to be nore comfortable in the offense as the season progressed and the weapons available to him can only improve.

I think it depends what you are looking for by "sneaky QB sleepers".
In the original post, I have a hard time seeing those guys having value even in a Superflex.

Right now; just looking at the rankings there are three guys who jump out at me to have a productive fantasy season in 2019. Winston (ranked 13th), Dak (ranked 18th) and Josh Allen (ranked 22nd).

I think any of these three have a very strong chance of finishing substantially higher than where they are ranked.

NOTE: I am talking about fantasy production, so don't feed me the "so and so is inaccurate or not good" crap. I am well aware of the public opinion on these three guys.

I look into my crystal ball, and I just see Foles on the Jaguars. It makes way too much sense - the DeFillipo thing feels like smoke to the fire.

I think he'd be an excellent fit there. That WR core is good and young, and just waiting for the right trigger man.

Matthew Stafford finished QB #19 last year. The 2 years previous to that he was a top 5 scoring QB. His stock is in the cellar right now but I could see him rebounding back to be a top 10 QB

I agree with this because a lot of people seem to think the offense will be more rushing focused. While hopefully true, it should help the offensive line play and the line was the main reason he was terrible this season.

In his five games against teams in the top ten for sacks:

111/171 64.9% 926 Yards (185.2 Yards per game) 5.4 ypa 2 TDs 4 Ints 21 Sacks

In the eleven games against everyone else:

256/384 66.7% 2,851 Yards (259.2 Yards per game) 7.4 ypa 19 TDs 7 Ints 19 Sacks
