Who are some guys everyone will be targeting this offseason in a trade? Guys coming off down years, injuries, new team, etc. Just interested to see some names to keep in mind!

Lukky, I've seen in other places on this forum that you are high on Barnett. I know that you traded for him in one of your leagues this year. As a IDP newbie I have no idea how to differentiate between a young up and coming "stud" and some other player that is comparable except by looking at the stats. What about Barnett makes him a likely future stud?

I see a game-wrecker when I watch Barnett's film, dating all the way back to his college days on the Vols. With pass rushers, you want to watch as much film as possible but also track more than just sacks. Tracking tackles for loss, QB hits and pressures, etc.

Ok. I appreciate the response.

Where are we at with Rashaan Evans? Is he worth pursuing? He was the 5th LB taken in my league's draft last year and just didn't produce like the 4 drafted in front of him (Smith, Edmonds, Chubb, Vander Esch), but I know that has to do with opportunity as well.

Evans never really locked into a full time role consistently. He’s ok as a buy low but it needs to be legit low. He’s still got enough name to where I doubt he gets sold very low.

I'm looking to learn more about IDP, so I'll throw out some more players. I'll start with LBs. Where are we with Shaq Thompson, Dorian O'Daniel, Vontaze Burfict and Genard Avery? Good trade targets?

Luckky how high of a draft pick would you pay in a start 11 idp start 2 De league....16 team.
So late first? Late second? I have a league I think I mwould got get him but want to come correct with the first offer as to not lose his attention. Thx

Late First in that league is still a tad pricey, ideally mid 2nd

Took advantage of the advice and traded David Moore + BJ Hill for Barnett, also moved up 10 spots in the 4th round by swapping our picks in the same trade.

Hope it works out because I can sure use the help at DE+DT.

Thompson has improved a little bit each season... but I don't see him becoming a 100 tackle guy or a double digit sack guy... he doesn't get the turnovers either... so, he might be just a guy for me that I plug in on bye weeks or start for his 4-5 pts if I don't have a better option. he's someone I'll pick up off waivers if I need emergency depth or bye week coverage.

I always like young inside LBs and try to catch them early before they break out. in that aspect, O'Daniel might be a good stash for now. He's gotten some playing time down the stretch, so maybe more in store for him in the near future?

Burfict is someone I bailed on over the past two seasons in all of my leagues, and I don't miss him at all - the headache factor is the primary reason to avoid him. He misses too many games to suspension and injury each year - including, usually, during the fantasy playoffs.

Avery is probably the player you listed here that I would target above the rest. If he becomes an every down player next year, he'll be a great value. Could be a plug-and-play, which is what you want on your defense.

Good luck!

For trying to project future production always use yearly pressure numbers instead of sack numbers. Sacks have a tendency to be fluky year to year, see Brandon Graham and Danielle Hunter, whereas if someone is getting consistent pressures normally this will eventually equate to large sack totals
