Picked him up late in a few drafts. Ton of mouths to feed but what do you guys think of his chances of being ff relevant in 2018 and beyond?

Better than Conner. Conner is a Jag that can’t catch. Samuels is a more effective player in multiple areas. Even still, he’s a handcuff at best. Prob best to be left on the ww or drafted really late.

He will almost certainly have some sort of role in the NFL for at least a few years. His pass catching and ability to be a chameleon will be attractive to teams, but it's doubtful he has any sort of fantasy stardom.

Rex Burkhead, Kyle Jusczyk, Mike Tolbert, Corey Clement... Samuels should soon be part of that group.

Really like his chances. Very versatile and a matchup nightmare. Expect Pitt to move him around and get him on the field in a number of ways. Great receiver and patient runner that should fit in well in Pitt’s offense. Nose for the end zone, 47 TDs at NCSU and averaged a TD every 2.8 touches in high school.

seeing reports that he's going to be a RB and will push James Conner for backup duties. I think he has a better skill set overall but maybe not as good running. when i think of Samuels I actually think of Bell before he lost the weight. maybe that's what they plan to do with Samuels?

I think he is one of the best rookie lottery picks to draft this year.

If Bell leaves after this year, IMO a better than 50% chance the way the Steelers do business, then he will be in a good position to possibly hit big. Even if Bell does not leave, the way the Steelers have run him into the ground, injuries will start to pile up and they will need to lighten his load = someone will be getting touches.

Samuels seems to excel at 2 things that are both FF gold for RB's, receptions and touchdowns.

The Steelers will use him this year, but I'm not sure enough to be fantasy relevant. Now after this year he could be interesting, remains to be seen if he can be effective enough at running the ball to truly be a RB. I think at worst he could take the passing duties and they lean on Conner between the tackles.

Guess I had one fantasy prayer answered early. No Conner this week, and possibly next week as well. But is Samuels fools gold this week? Guess that depends on your options, but I can't rationalize not starting him this week vs. Oakland.

Based on historical data he'll get the bulk of the workload and should be a decent play. Pitt is pretty much always a one back workhorse system, when bell went down it was DWill, when he went down it was someone else(I can't remember)

So why would they play Samuels over Ridley? I only added Samuels as a lottery ticket a few weeks back so I don't know a ton about the guy. I'm guessing his pass catching ability vs. Ridley's lack of pass catching ability gives Samuels the edge for the bulk of the work.

If you’re playing in yahoo, Samuels is available to be played in the TE spot and becomes an instant no brainer there :P
