Thoughts on Keenan Allen

what are peoples thoughts on Allen? Hes obviously having a bit of a down year compared to last year. He;s still getting a sizable amount of targets but to this point hes just producing WR3 numbers. I was one who bought him in the offseason expecting WR1 numbers. Personally I think the talent is there and the offense is great but it seems to me they have a lot more weapons they are using this year which is hurting his value. I have some in my league trying to trade for him but I don't intend to sell him low. Do you think he will be a WR1 by years end and beyond this year or has he peaked already?

Just be patient. This is sort of how last season started. I also get low ball offers even when he is in peak form. Hes just one of those players everyone wants but for cheap.

Eh I'd be a bit worried on his usage. There are a lot of good, young weapons in this offense from Gordon, Mike Will, Tyrell Will, Ekeler and not to mention Hunter Henry who will surely command his fair share of targets as well. In this scenario, Keenan will likely never be a major factor in the red zone (has he ever) so you'll essentially be relying on him to continue to command a massive amount of targets going forward. This could indeed happen but its also likely that the young guys continue to grow their target shares as well, further evenly distributing the target share.

I sold inf the offseason and I'm not really looking to buy now either, even though his price has likely dropped.

Keenan Allen was treated this offseason like a super star, but he really only exploded the last half of last year. The rest of his career really hasn't been that special. I wouldn't sell low on him, but I never believed he belonged in the tier of receivers he was grouped with this past offseason.

I think he is a low end WR1/high end WR2 in reality. So if you're getting offers in that range, that's about right.

As stated above, he started off last season in similar disappointing fashion.

He isn’t gonna live up to the expectations/hope I had for him preseason (top 3 overall WR), but he will finish as a top 15 WR, maybe top 10.

Volume's down a bit but it's still not horrid, 8.5 T/G, brings it to 136 on the year. Pacing around 1300 yds as well. These are all fringe elite numbers the only issue this year is that he only has one TD in six weeks. Wasn't a beleiver before and was lower on him than most, I think he's still a low end WR1, he's producing like a stud except the TDs.
EDIT NOTE: I should add I wouldn't be surprised if he does end the year as a low WR2 as this team has a ton of RZ options so maybe he doesn't end up scoring as much as we think he should, and he doesn't have the sheer stupid factor of Julio's production to be a WR1 with low-no TDs.

Would you trade Allen for Robert woods?

You figure the way Rivers is spraying TDs everywhere, Allen would have more. I have him in a redraft league and that's my biggest disappointment about him. Oh well, maybe he scores more ROS. Long-term, still a great player obv.

I've never put Keenan Allen in the top tier of WRs and this, as well as injuries, is why. He's streaky for TDs, so I set my expectations lower for him.

I probably wouldn't, but I also don't think it's crazy if anyone took Woods here. Both are PPR WR2s with lengthy injury histories, but LAC is basing their offensive scheme around their RBs, and Woods is on the better offense with McVay in LAR.

Through 6 games this year: 36/434/1 (51 targets)
Through 6 games last year: 33/446/1 (61 targets)

Certainly seems like a great buy if people are disappointed in the touchdown numbers or the decrease in volume. But, every season is different.

Keenan has never been much of a TD threat. His production comes with target volume. His ypr was also abnormally high last year.
