Looking towards 2011

Postby Kaz » Tue Dec 28, 2010 11:13 pm

So, my ppr league just finished up it's championship, and I was looking at my roster and considering who to keep/trade for next year. I'm going to be having a late pick in a snake draft probably, as I made it to the championship. Here's my roster, 0.5ppr and bonuses for TD plays 40+ yards:

QB: Vick, Romo, Orton
RB: Hillis, Gore, J. Stewart. D. Williams, F. Jackson
WR: White, V. Jackson, M. Williams (TB), D. Alexander, S. Smith (NYG), Harvin
TE: Z. Miller (OAK), Pettigrew

We get 4 keepers, and I was leaning towards Vick, Hillis, White, and J.Stew.
QB: Brees, Ryan
RB: J.Taylor, K.Hunt, R.Jones, Dillon, McKinnon
WR: D.Adams, T.Hill, A.Rob, Lockett, Anderson, P.Campbell, C.Samuel
TE: Kittle, Olsen, D.Sample
DL: Ngakoue, E.Griffen, J.Sweat, Bowser
LB: Mosley, D.Jones, Warner, Treviathan, R. Evans, Okereke, M.Harrison
DB: J.Johnson, T.Mathieu, T.Walker, J.Jones, X.Woods

I would have to think for a while before I gave a definitive opinion on which 4 I would keep but off the top of my head, I know I would rather keep DWill, Gore, VJac, and Mike Williams (TB) over Hillis. I just cannot see him reproducing what he did this season. And even then, he wore down as the season came down the stretch and playoffs rolled around.
Start: 2 QB, 3 RB, 5 WR, 2 TE (All TDs=6, 1 per 10 rush/rec, 1 per 25 pass, NO PPR) 8 teams
QB: Rodgers, Vick, Cutler, Schaub, Luck
RB: Rice, CJ, McFadden, Richardson, Stewart, Ingram, Spiller, Vereen
WR: Green, Marshall, Roddy, Jennings, Roddy, Bowe, Maclin, Britt, A Brown, Williams (TB), Collie, Smith (STL)
TE: Graham, Finley, F Davis, Cook
Taxi Squad: Tebow, Crabtree, Jeffrey, Hill, Gordon

Stewart, White , and Vick.....yes, you must keep. The 4th spot not as easy. Wait and see what happens to D. Williams. May have a new team next season. Hillis looked great until a couple of weeks ago when he seemed to have hit a brick wall and Hardesty (if healthy) will be back next season. And then there is V-Jax, a full season with Rivers (if V-jax plays for s.d. next season) could be very productive. But the biggest thing I would watch is where D.Will ends up.

Hey Kaz, that's good line and with all that tallent a good problem to have...for me it would be a toss up between Vick/Romo because even though Vick can win a game for you all by himself any given week, his scrambling probably would get him injured...Romo has too much talent and a new HC that like to go veriticle...plus it's Dallas and JJ lives to win...I'd probably choose Vick, too much upside...the rest I would keep are J Stew, White and V Jax...

Hillis will be in a time share next year w/Hardesty...
Gore has some miles on him and who know how harbaugh is going to use him
Orton could be in Aizona next year and until we know...if he stays in Denver he'll always be looking over his shoulder pads at Tebow
Romo is a flat out beast especially w/all the talent around him and Garrett running the show, Romo could catch fire in "11"
F Jackason is getting old
D Williams not sure where he ends up, in Carolina I think J stew is gonna be the man w/Goodson in releif
Mike Williams (TB) he's a young stud but I think his QB is gonna always put up blue collar workman like #'s
D Alexander has all the skills in the world but has horrible knees
S Smith (NYG) we don't know the extent of his injury
Harvin has super talents but gets super headaches and who will be the Vikes QB.
I think TE is open Miller/Petigrew have talent but Gresham from NO and CIncy's TE are up and coming out of this world talents...

Good luck

I would 2nd this advice...If I had to make the choice today, Gore would be my 4th pick. If I could wait, I would want to see how he bounces back from injury & what kind of situation VJax and DWill end up in. If I didn't like any of those answers, I would take Mike Williams as the "safe" pick.

Guess I will go very much against the grain and recommend you dump Vick. Romo will have a better season and you could very well redraft him at the end of the 1st round.

The group I would pick from:
Gore, JStew, DeWill, White, VJax, and Williams

But you will want to wait to see what is settled in a couple of those situations before making a decision.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

With the keeper situation, I just don't see Vick lasting until the 11th pick. I had been considering trading him though. I just feel like it would help me out in my decision process. I have quite a few viable keepers, and it just feels like moving one or two for picks would be a good idea.

I would keep:

Vick (why would you let him go?)
J Stewart (a potential stud once D Will moves on and based on his 2nd half of this season)
White (stud WR1 that will be difficult to replace)
one of V Jax/M Williams... depending on where V Jax ends up

Good Luck.

I am saying you can get Romo at #11...who cares about keeping Vick over the rest when you can get someone just as good back? The rest of these guys should be drafted ahead of pretty much any QB. In a 4 player keeper with this many options, you can get a QB back when you draft.

I like this. So Charles, Gore, Roddy White for your top three... lots of options for #4 - maybe another trade coming? Maybe a trade where you get to upgrade your first round pick?

don't worry about QB, you'll get a serviceable one later in the draft.

Roddy White? Ifso...I would keep RWhite, VJax, Gore and (I hate to do it) MVick! That's a great core and will definitely allow you to compete week in-week out.
