Thoughts on this mini move and my team overall

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Thoughts on this mini move and my team overall

Postby jbarth90 » Tue May 29, 2018 5:56 pm

Team 1 below:
I like Burton for this year, but decided to float him to see his value. Clearly I need RB help, so I ended up working this deal out.

Gave: Burton, 5.02, 5.09, 5.14

Got: Dion Lewis

My other picks this year:
1.02, 1.05, 1.07, 1.14, 1.15, 1.16, 2.02, 2.13, 3.02

The 5th round picks are practically worthless in a 16 team league and I just wanted to get rid of them.

I've been working on a rebuild for a while, and I'm excited about the picks that I acquired last year, but I'm super nervous that one of my top 3 picks will bust.... Not sure who the safest picks are going to be.

Any extra thoughts on this trade for me and my team in general?

Is the deal accepted or just offered? I think it’s fair value for the most part. What are your plans for a backup TE?

Fair value, I always laugh when trades are pulled off with 4th round picks or later thrown into the deal, pretty much worthless after the 3rd round. You better pull the Trigger on Gisecki with one of your 1.14-1.16 picks, you definitely need a backup TE. As far as your first couple of picks I'd get Penny at 1.02 and pray Michel falls to me. You need to know your league and what you think the 1.03 and 1.04 do. I was in a similar situation with my picks and went Guice first even though I liked Penny more because I was more confident Penny would fall to me over Guice with my second pick. Just knew how my leaguemates would feel about Penny. Either way I think all the rookie RB's have a very solid chance of being like last years rookies and all producing. Most are going Kerryon over Freeman but I'd go freeman with the 1.07. IF you want a WR go Moore

It has been accepted already. I know Lewis is a risk, but if I get some production from one or two of my 3 early picks, he would be a decent contribution as my RB 3 if he's healthy.

I actually wanted to sort out the backup TE spot first, but I was happy with this trade, and figure I have pieces I can use to get an extra TE and have plenty of time I think.

Yeah I agree with the picks. I know they aren't much, if any value. I used them to "schmooze" the other owner lol.

Honestly, I was thinking that my 1.14-1.16 would be something like 1-2 of those second tier wrs, and 1-2 of Roquan Smith and Edmunds (LB) since they could be cornerstones. Do you not think Gisecki would be available at 2.02? Or I could possibly use that 2.02 towards a trade for a TE that's either proven or has done his time of developing in the league.

I've been hesitant to commit to Penny with his struggles in pass protection. Even though he has the draft capital, if he can't help in the passing game, how long of a leash will he get?

The 1.03 and 1.04 will be brand new owners, so I will have no clue how they will pick unless they get traded. I was thinking my 3 picks would be Guice, Michel and RoJo, but I feel like there is risk with all 3 of these guys. Honestly, all of the RBs have risk (outside of Barkley, obviously). I'm just trying to mitigate that risk as much as possible.

Are u planning to make a run for it this year, seeing what happens or doing a multi year rebuild.

If multiyear rebuild for encourage focusing less on opportunity and on talent potential. Players like Chubb, Sutton seems to now be falling due to lack of present time perceived opportunity and have elective potential. If Chubb is there at 5 I snag him.

If goi
Bg for this year then Guice, J
Penny and Jones seems to have the quickest return on investment

I've been going back and forth on that thought. I think I'm close to going for it, but I also got into this situation a couple of years ago and shot myself in the foot going for it and getting killed with injuries to older players and I never recovered...

How close do I look to competing in a 16 team league?

Seems like fair value. That team needs a lot of help though and I don't think Lewis is someone I'd want on my team in a rebuild. I'd see if I could flip him to the Henry owner for a pick or younger player with upside.

Unfortunately, we don't have a Henry owner right now. There is going to be a mini draft for 4 of the new teams that came into the league this off-season. So I will have to wait before I can talk to that owner about Lewis.

I'm currently talking with another owner about Tevin Coleman.

He offered me:
T. Coleman
2.12
For
1.14
2.02

I countered with his 2.06 instead of 2.12, everything else the same.

I'd take the original deal, but if you can get home to swap the 2.12 with the 2.06, even better.

I told him there is a value drop off between 2.06 and 2.12 and he said he wanted to give it some thought. I'm glad that you think I'm good even if he doesn't accept the offer.

I get what you're saying, and you're probably right. I just figure RB is so random and volatile, I want as many chances as I can to find success at the position. Plus, I know it's risky, but if his value goes up a bit or the new Henry owner in my league wants him bad, I might be able to flip him for better assets.
