Targetting Blount?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Targetting Blount?

Postby myndflyte » Mon May 21, 2018 9:50 am

This probably sounds a little crazy but what are people's thoughts on Blount? He's 31 and the Lions did draft an RB but no one can deny his ability in the red zone and that is where the Lions really struggled last year. In terms of the other RBs on the team, I think they are done with Abdullah and Riddick will be their passing back.

So do you think the Lions give the reigns to Kerryon Johnson or do they work him into the rotation? Clearly long term, Johnson is the guy but for this upcoming season, is it worth trying to take a shot on Blount if you can get him for a 2019 3rd round pick (rookie draft is already complete)?

I wouldn't give up a '19 3rd, but if you believe, sure it's cheap... I would rather target Riddick with that pick

You should be able to get him for something cheaper.

As a Blount owner I would quickly accept a 3rd. That said, I have had him on my roster the last two years and outside of bye weeks you could never really trust/start him. Don’t think he’ll fair any better on the lions who had the worst run offense last year. The truly TD dependent RBs are hard to play
Team 1
12 Teams - .5 pt. PPR
QB: Newton, A. Dalton, Foles

I don't think many people will be "targeting" Blount. maybe if you have roster space, I'd pay a 209 4th or 5th round...maybe. I'd probably wait and just pick him off the waiver wire

Johnson will have more carries than Blount this year. The Lions were 32nd in rushing last year. That's dead last. Plus Riddick will get play on passing downs, which the Lions do more of than rushing. I wouldn't target Blount for anything....

I paid a 19’ 4th for Blount and that’s a price I’m okay with in the league where I’m very strong at WR, but needed depth at RB.

I don’t think I could pay a 3rd for him considering Kerryon + Riddick are lurking. But he (Blount) strikes me as a guy who probably won’t put up much points, but will have the opportunity for a TD if you just had to start him (injuries, BYES, etc.).

Outside of his last season in NE he’s a tough weekly start. I’d take anything I can get for him.
