I am in a 16 team dynasty league and for 15 years we have done our draft in a chat room mostly through aim but that is no longer an option. I have checked into MFL and dont want to put in all the info with the teams players, and some of the features are just not working like we need it to. Does anyone have an option so that we can make trades and live chat for the draft and have an easy way to keep track of players drafted.

We are still using yahoo for our league and commish doesnt want to change it. I'm just trying to come up with a way to not have a slow draft through email.

If your league is on MFL, then the draft room on there is ideal. If not, hmmm.

We use PrimeTime for our in person live drafts, because it has an app that distant people can use to see the draft board and make their picks... if you can arrange a real-time draft, that would be a good option, but I know how difficult that can be with 16 remote drafters. I'm not sure if the results translate to Yahoo however.

I remember being in a Yahoo league a few years ago - seems like we did the draft on the message board on the Yahoo page - is that not an option?

We will update live picks in yahoo. but need somewhere so we can talk trade and have all 16 teams on at the same time.

My league uses GroupMe for league chat (as well as team-to-team private trade talks). We also announce our rookie draft selections there.

Is that a mobile app only?

There is a web version through which you can access it, but I haven't tried that out.

In the two leagues that I commish (one ESPN and one Fantrax), we hold the draft on the message boards. It’s pretty rudimentary, but it gets the job done and it’s easy enough to keep track of picks and trades. It is a decent amount of manual work if you have trades, but it’s probably the most user friendly for the majority of teams as long as other owners add their players once drafted, and email the league once they make their pick.

I am also in two leagues that uses GroupMe to hold the drafts (both startup and rookie drafts) and it’s pretty good. At first I was skeptical and didn’t want to use 3rd party apps and all that crap (actually left a league a few years ago because they were transitioning to these chat apps as opposed to the old school chats). That being said, using the GroupMe app was pretty convenient once you get the hang of it, and you can set up alerts when you are on the clock. The commish still needs to manually update the draft board in the message board, but it’s pretty solid nonetheless. I would say it’s like group text messaging without the hassle of all the phone numbers.

In the future, I wouldn’t hesitate to use GroupMe to hold rookie drafts. I have not used the web based version though.
