I'm on the fringe of the playoffs in my league with one week left but am looking to build for future years. Just received an offer that I need some help on.
Receive: 1st round pick
Give: Freeman & 3rd
The pick would actually be my own pick sent back to me. There is a consolation bracket for all non-playoff teams to determine draft order. I would be one of the two best teams in that bracket to try to win the #1 overall pick. I'm obviously super high on Barkley and would loe to grab the #1 pick. Question is, do I take the risk of not winning the #1 (pick could be anywhere from 1-6) and give up Freeman for the future? Need long term RB help more than WR help. What's everyone's valuation of Freeman?

I'm not high on Freeman as his concussions are worrisome, however, I wouldn't make that trade unless you know for sure it will be the 1.01. Anything less and you are losing out big time. I would take out the 3rd as well as it's not necessary to add to Freeman.

If this trade offer is from a contending team, then I would want your own first back, along with at least a second rd pick. The third that you would be sending along with Freeman is a bit much and you can remove from the trade regardless, as Spongehack suggested in his post.
This whole trade hangs in the balance, and is a total disaster if you don't land a top two pick (Barkley/Guice). I would want more than just a first rd pick, if I were a Freeman-owner such as yourself.

Take out the 3rd and tell your trade partner to add a 2nd. State to them that the only way this trade becomes equal is if the 1st round pick you're getting is top 3 and that is why you would like a 2nd added on their side, because if it's the #6 pick that you land, they are getting a steal for Freeman. As long as you believe in your team and they will agree to these terms, I would do the trade and bet on myself.
Of course personally I think you win this trade in a land slide if you get the #1.
