Zampese out, Lazor in as Bengals OC

Postby Bot101 » Fri Sep 15, 2017 11:48 am

Zampese has been fired as OC for the Bengals and Bill Lazor is the new OC. What does this mean for the skill position players in Cincy?

They'll make changes to how the offense is run or they wont? If they do make changes it'll help the skill players or it wont?

Basically no one knows, it's all a guess so which way do you wanna lean and go with it until we see some actual data.

Tweaking depth charts and X,Y alingments can make a world of difference. Remember, Ravens fired Cam Cameron and replaced him with Jim Caldwell who propelled the offense to a Super Bowl win.

Lazor's first gig above QB coach, and it's not like he's had a ton of tutelage under one OC to speculate on

Like others have said, it can't get any worse. Also, like others have said, the oline is the main problem and there's not alot you can do about that, at this point. One thing that they can do is give one ball carrier, preferably Mixon or Bernard the lion-share of work to let them get into some sort of rhythm. I would like to see Mixon get the 1st & 2nd down work with Bernard sprinkled in, I would try to ship Hill to another team before the trade deadline, if possible.

I'm wondering what kind of an offensive scheme he likes to employ. Is he even considered a good coordinator? Is it safe to assume AJG will get the lionshare of the targets or does he spread the ball around? Does he use a full RBBC or will he put Hills butt on the bench where it belongs?

I thought this was going to happen before the season but I agree...Hill should be dealt away

CIN isn't finding ways to get their skill players the ball, AJG, Mixon, Eifert. Enough of this three-headed rushing attack as well, nobody can get momentum when continuously getting taken out of the game. It's time to feature Mixon!

Some teams prefer make the triple or even quadruple-man backfield work, and have so for years: NEP, NOS, DET, and now SEA and CIN, for example.

Preference, brilliance, stupidity... eh, if you win Super Bowls or games, whatever you do is somewhere between good enough and brilliant.

Difference is CIN and DET are not great winning franchises, but they've done it or are doing it anyway.

Maybe the Seahawks could use Jeremy Hill as Tank #4 or 5??

Agree with those who believe it can't get any worse. The Bengals have too much talent to not put up points, even with a poor offensive line. Last season, they got a pass because Green missed 6 games and Eifert missed 8. Also agree that the Bengals need to decide on a consistent 1/2 RB punch. Nobody can build rhythm that way.

With Lazor as the Miami OC, Dolphins had a lot of pre-shift movement to make the offense seem complex, however, was a simplified offense. In 2014, Lamar Miller rushed for 1,099 yards, 8 TDs averaging 5.1 yards per rush. Miller also caught 38 passes for 275 yards, 1 TD. Lazors' offensive scheme should help Dalton and hopefully feature the playmakers, Mixon for one.
