Optimal superflex draft slot

Postby Novacane » Tue May 16, 2017 7:02 am

Curious what everyone thinks the optimal draft slot for a super flex is. I see a lot of people suggesting the back end of round 1 (1.10 -1.12). I typically like drafting closer to the middle and was thinking 1.04-1.05 because of the advantage it gives in the 3rd round. Trading down may be an option but in my experience, depends on the crowd.

What say you?

I'd say any spot that will get you in the mid-2nd round or better. So I suppose that would be mid-late 1st round.

I still like later in the round as you can get two solid young QBs (Winston, Mariota, Carr) to build your team around.

QB: Allen, AR, Brissett
RB: Mixon,Barkley,Rhamondre,Foreman
WR: Deebo,Adams,Jeudy, Devonta,Nuk
TE: Knox,Chig, Woods, Ferguson

Are rookies mixed in or are they a separate draft? If mixed in, I like 1.03-1.05 range. If not mixed in, I'm pushing as far back as I can.

Rookies are not but rookie picks are so kind of the same thing as being included I guess.

The more I think about it, I am leaning towards 1.08. It gets me a little closer to the middle with the advantage of a nice 2nd round pick.

Can you explain your reasoning here? Not understanding why the addition of rookies would change things...

I'm assuming because if rookies aren't included (and are instead picked in a separate draft), the order for the rookie draft could be the inverse of the start-up order. In which case having a start-up pick be as late as possible would be best.

I'm a big fan of being right in the middle. If value falls, you don't have to pay an arm and a leg to move up for it and if a run starts on a position you can either zig why others are zagging or grab the last of your tier at that point. I get being at the end and I like that a lot, just prefer middle if given the choice.

I seen leagues that were set up in this format. They are 100% commissioned by the guppiest of guppies. And anyone who joins a league like that is foolish. I would leave immediately if i joined a league that tried to structure a rookie draft that ran in reverse order of a startup snake draft. Unless of course I had the 12spot, in which case I would stick a big middle finger up at my leaguemates.

There's no way that you should be able to get the 1.12/2.1 wrap in a startup and then get the 1.1 rookie pick to go with it.

Boggles my mind that leagues like that exist
