Dez or MT?

In a vacuum on a contending team would you rather have Dez and Baldwin or MT and Cobb and why?

Dez/Baldwin.

Because you're contending, and Dez is the unquestioned #1 passing option in his offense despite his age. So Dez > MT who has to compete with Cooks/Snead and while he had a great rookie year, it was only one year. Doug Baldwin is almost universally underrated, also his teams #1 receiving option, so Baldwin > Cobb.

That's tough. I voted the Dez + Baldwin side because Dez more or less = Thomas, but Baldwin is crazy underrated and a much better asset than Cobb. If it were something like Thomas + Sterling Shepard or Thomas + Emmanuel Sanders, that would make it a tough call.

While I strongly disagree that MT is the best player, he may have the most value, or at least close to Dez, but if Dez is healthy he is still an elite talent and produces, and Baldwin was sneakily in PPR I believe a wr1 again this year, so I would easily take dez and Baldwin for a contending team

For starters i rank these guys 1. MT 2. Dez 3. Baldwin 4. Cobb. That being said i would rather have the 2 and 3 guy rather than the 1 and 4 guy. Dez and Baldwin can both out score on an MT down week. Baldwin is so underated. Dez Baldwin side easily for me!

People will say if you are contending, go Dez, I disagree. Prescott spreads the ball around and it is a running team. Thomas is a WR1 for the next 7 years. He is not a potential guy, he is a WR1 NOW, so keeping Dez because you are contending is not a real reason to me. Give me a 22 year old WR1 on a pass heavy team instead of a 29 year old WR1 who has been dinged up a bit lately on a team that wants to run the ball a lot.

Is "MT" Michael Thomas' nickname? I have never seen that before and was confused who the OP was talking about. Give me the Dez side regardless.

I think he made it up. I had the same problem until I started reading down thru the first few posts until someone mentioned him by full name.

Michael Thomas had a great season, but you're taking a pretty big leap by assuming that Brees and Payton are going to be around for seven more years. Unless, of course, you honestly believe that Thomas is a generational talent whose production is neither QB- nor system-dependent. But again, that seems like a pretty big leap after just one season. I think Thomas is a decent WR who landed in an ideal situation, and could see a huge drop in production without Brees and/or Payton in NO. I'd take the Dez/Baldwin side, personally.

Jesus, I need to stay away from politics, I thought MT was Margret Thatcher! Dez side for sure, I loved Thatcher and I do love Thomas.

This is not even close for me. Age is being factored too much when people say Michael Thomas is worth the same as Dez. Dez is a shoe in if healthy for WR1 production. I feel like i am the only person still not sold on MT. And if we are taking age into account, his QB is old, so is he QB proof all of a sudden.
Meanwhile Baldwin to Cobb isn't even close to me. Baldwin and Russ are one of the most efficient duos in the NFL right now. Cobb meanwhile seems to be falling. I mean is he even a top 50 asset at this point?

If you are competing Dez and Baldwin no question. If you aren't than i give the lean to Dez and Baldwin still just due to them being the hands down #1 passing option in their respective offenses.

I agree with you yeah MT is younger than Dez but who knows how MT is going to be when Brees is gone in a year or 2 , And Cobb is a couple years younger than Baldwin
