Vernon Davis value?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Vernon Davis value?

Postby dlf_ericd » Mon Jun 28, 2010 2:52 pm

I'm looking to tweak my roster and even though I have Celek, I have some interest from the Vernon Davis owner in my league. He needs a solid WR and has tentatively said he would trade VD for Mike Sims-Walker and a 4th round pick...am I crazy or is this a really good deal for me?

Breaston is listed in my signature line, but will be gone after a current trade is approved. Thoughts???

I think this would be a wasted trade for you...YOu hae no need for upgrading Celek. I think Celek will out produce VD this year...stay put.

I agree. If you could start 2 TE's it would be close but it doesn't look like you can.

I say do the deal. You are getting a top 5 TE for a 20-25 ranked WR. MSW is much too conistent for me. I had him in my work re-draft league last season and he was almost the death of me. I would do the trade, and then trade celek away. Vernon is a big upgrade over celek IMO, and you could pick up a good flier by trading Celek.
16 team league, non-PPR standard scoring plus bonuses. $200 cap
Schaub ($26/2014), Weeden ($5/2016)
McFadden ($35/2012), Richardson ($8/2018), Goodson ($2/2012), W. Powell ($2/2014), Taiwan ($5/2014) Bryce Brown ($2/2016)
Fitz ($32/2014), Nicks ($12/2012), DJax ($12/2013), Wayne ($12/2012) Collie ($8/2015), Hilton ($3/2014), Streeter ($3/2013), Hixon ($5/2012), Smith (STL $2/2015), B. Tate ($2/2012)
Gresham ($10/2016), Rudolph ($5/2015), Housler ($2/2017), C. Clay ($2/2015), Cooley ($5/2012)
Gostowski ($2/2015)
CAR ($3/2014), CIN ($2/2014)

I'd say you'd be winning that deal if you didnt already have Celek. Rather than getting Vernon Davis THEN trading Celek, I'd look to see if I could move Celek first THEN do the deal for Davis.

There will be someone willing to bite on Celek. The problem with that thought process is that if you go ahead and trade Celek first, what if the VD trade falls through? Then you're stuck without a TE, so absolutely not IMO. Take the trade for Vernon, then worry moving Celek.

It's a good value for you in that trade, but with Celek, you just don't NEED to do it.

That makes sense. I was going under the assumption that the other owner would be 100% set on doing the deal based on him moving Celek first. But I see your point and agree.

Stay put Celek will be a top 8 TE this season and top 5 beyond IMO!

I'm not a big Sims-Walker supporter, so I would definitely take that deal. You can wait until the season if you want to trade away one of the TEs then - it's OK to have more than one stud at a position, btw - better on your bench than in someone else's lineup. :P

Davis is a minor upgrade from Celek and given the state of your WRs if you trade MSW you really are hurting at WR3. What you would have to give (presumably with Celek) to replace him would likely end up making the overall moves a push.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

the same can be said of Vernon Davis - in other words, great trade value to a team hurting for a TE, but perhaps stacked at a position like WR or QB. More trade value, I predict, than MSW will have later on.

Do the Trade.

X2 - Its all about value here, and you're getting great Value with Davis, I'd definitely do the deal!

X2.

If Celek is exploding during the season, maybe you could trade him then if you wanted to. MSW has very little value to you as your WR3 as he'll rarely, if ever, see your lineup with the RB's 1-4 that you have.
