ODB Trade offer

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

ODB Trade offer

Postby mmass » Thu Sep 08, 2016 11:59 pm

I have been offered ODB for Copper and 3 2017 1st all mostly like middle round in a 12 team though I could see one slipping into the top 4 and maybe 1 slipping into the bottom 4.

Here is the question - Is this an overpay - I am having a tough time swallowing 3 2017 picks and who I would call a top 5 or 6 WR for one player.

If this is an over pay? What's the counter. It's B-Team in the sig. My team is built to win now and hopefully later with all those picks.

I think this is about as max value an offer as is possible to imagine (without crossing into trade rape). I've never been asked to pony up that much value for one player, so it's hard to conceive of how it would feel to hit accept.

One thing I'll say is that if you truly believe Cooper is a top five receiver then this would be a silly trade to accept. I see people calling Cooper an elite player frequently on these forums and I struggle to believe them.

I don't think think Cooper will finish near the top five this season. I don't think he'll ever be a consistent top five guy over his career. I do believe in him as a talent. I think he was the least risky prospect I ever scouted. Health permitting I think he'll have a long and successful NFL career.

I don't see a single breath taking aspect in AC's game like you usually find in the truly elite receivers. I don't see Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Larry Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall, Julio Jones, Odell Beckham or even Sammy Watkins when I look at Amari.

Now I would have said the same thing about HoF WR Tim Brown. While I owned Antonio in three leagues before his break out, I traded him because I didn't see it there either. Sometimes what makes a player spectacular is hard to quantify. Maybe Cooper will prove his loyal believers accurate. I think he's likely a more polished version of Jeremy Maclin.

I just realized that I've just written a blog on your thread, lol sorry for the hijack. To answer your question I would pass. I think Cooper and the picks will likely combine to be worth more than any singular player.

Yes it's an overpay, by quite a bit. Cooper is a top 5-6 OVERALL player. Value-wise, that's about 6 1st rd picks for ODB

That's a bit much even for ODB. Maybe Landry and the 1sts but even that is a lot.

If a 10 team league I might do it given the allstar rosters in 10 teamers but that is still a lot to give up.

I am not a huge believer in Amari, and personally I think he belongs closer to the 15th overall player than the 5th. and even then him plus 3 - 2017 1sts is just too much value for beckham, unless YOU MUST HAVE OBJ.

I'd consider Cooper/1st/2nd but that's still quite a bit. No way should you be giving up 3 1sts in addition to Cooper.

Way too much. OBJ is great but I don't even know if there is a counter when the other owner is opening with that offer.

At this point, Cooper is still just projection and hype. OBJ is record setting production, causing the hype. Huge difference. It blows my mind when people act like there shouldn't be a massive value gap between the 2. Because of OBJ's combo of youth and production, it should be OBJ alone in the top tier of dynasty, then a massive tier gap between himself and whoever you have rated the #2 dynasty asset. If it's somebody like AB, OBJ still gets a bump due to age. If it's somebody like Coop or Evans, OBJ still gets the huge bump due to proven production. if he is somehow attainable in a league, it should be at a price that makes the acquiring owner want to vomit.

All that being said, Cooper + 3 1sts is too much due to Cooper's perceived value lol. But I would have no problem giving Cooper + 2 1sts. Let others chase projection all they want. I'll take the guy who's basically the same age and setting records.

It's tempting to be able to roll out AB and OBJ....but. Cooper is a drop off, but adding 4 1 st rd pick next year to that roster and wow, you are set for the long term. This also allows you flexibility in the draft, packaging picks, pick and players to move up in the draft. Stick with your roster.
