Jason Campbell to the Raiders

Postby Steelersfan » Sat Apr 24, 2010 10:22 am

Raiders acquired Jason Campbell from the Redskins in exchange for a fourth-round pick in 2012.

Per Redskins beat writer Rick Maese, Campbell already has a deal worked out with Al Davis that will pay him $3.14 million this year and $4.5 million in 2011. Campbell may have to "earn" the job by beating out JaMarcus Russell, but it won't be much of a competition. Campbell is a much better passer than either Russell or Bruce Gradkowski, so Zach Miller and Chaz Schilens are now prime candidates for breakout seasons. Upgrade Darren McFadden and Michael Bush as well, as defenses won't be able to key on the running game.

Wow. 4th-rounder? Steal, IMO.

Absolutely. My question is who will turn out to be Campbells WR1?

Chaz Schilens has some serious potential. He has amazing height/speed and so far has displayed solid hands. I think he will continue as the #1 in OAK.

Top receiving options in that offense:

Miller
Schilens
DMC

Zach Miller or DMC.

At least until Chaz can stay healthy, Murphy can learn to consistently catch, or DHB can learn how to play...

Nice pickup by the Raiders. He will buy them a few years or if he can become a leader he may be the answer for them.

Every time the ball was thrown in Louis Murphy's direction, good things happened for the Raiders. That is saying a lot, since good things are rare for the Raiders.

Raiders

Postby Scorp » Sat Apr 24, 2010 5:52 pm

Give this team a tough schedule, and they'll reach the playoffs every year. They beat Denver in the later part of 2009 last year after Denver went 6-0, then defeated the Bengals Defense which was performing well at the time. They also went on to beat the Eagles, and defeated Pittsburgh on Dec. 06th. Oakland bulked up on the offensive and defensive line, and it seems they have everything in place except for the WR position which we all know is a very changeable positon from year to year from a fantasy standpoint. The only thing left for the Raiders to fail on is the coaching job.

Raiders get a new QB and a new left-tackle in one move! Amazing.

Great news for Campbell. I really like the kid, and he deserves better than the Raiders. But it is an improvement on his situation from DC.

As a Campbell owner I am happy and sad. Happy that he remains a usable option as a starter in Oakland and sad that he went to Oakland. I applaud Al Davis this year for his off season moves. I liked what they did in the draft, moving Morrison and acquiring Campbell. Hopefully now he dumps Fatboy to eliminate what will be their biggest distraction. Zach Miller went from #12 to #10 in my rankings.
