SJax isn't enough?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Would you give up a top 5 rookie pick for SJax?

SJax isn't enough?

Postby Phish Brigade » Fri Apr 23, 2010 9:15 am

Hey fellas. Just trying to get a feel for what the DLF crew thinks about SJax... one, last, time.

Does he have enough value to trade up in the first round of rookie drafts? One of my leagues clearly doesn't think so.

I voted yes but it has a lot to do with a couple of factors like what mode is the team looking to add SJax in and what pick.

I would have no problem moving either the 1.4 or 1.5 for SJax, especially if I was in win now mode.

I voted "no", but I'll give a qualified, short answer:

If I'm a "win-now" team and hold 1.5, looking for a RB, yes.

If I'm a "rebuilding now" team and hold 1.5, looking for a RB, no. He's too old to build around, imo.

If I'm 1 solid RB away from contending - yes

For a rebuild team I consider him a guy I'd avoid

If I had stopped to think about it, I should have known that everyone on this site is always in win now mode.

When you see so many posts about how people wouldn't let a stud RB1 go for anything less than a solid player + a 1st round rookie pick, it's hard to tell what the actual value is sometimes. The impression that I'm getting is that I'd get better value if I was offering Lynch.

Top 5 RB or unknown rookie.

Easy call on SJax for me whether I am "win now" or not.

Based on your post you are trying to offer SJax for a top 5 pick? There is no way I would make that move.

Mathews or Dez might be worth it.

SJax is worth it.

Keep the new car or see what's behind door number 3?

See... that's what I've been thinking. If someone wants a RB, isn't SJax still a first round pick in start up drafts? Might his value even be just a shade better with Bradford on the roster? I'd basically have to give up SJax, my 1.09 pick and my 2011 1st rounder or another potential starter to unload SJax. Clearly, it's not worth it for me.

However, they'd gladly take JStew off my hands. I've already turned down the 1.05 and 3.05 this week.

That's a complete joke. If I owned SJax, it would take more than a single 1st to get him from me. And the offer for Stewart is horrid.

Nice.
Good analogy, but I wouldn't call S-Jax a "new car" , perhaps a very reliable used car (unless he's one of those toyotas)

Of your existing owners are undervaluing proven studs that much, you need to be fleecing them with your draft picks.
