Chris Johnson vs. Usain Bolt

Postby thevidon2 » Mon Jan 04, 2010 10:01 am

Chris Johnson-RB- Titans Jan. 4 - 10:19 am et

Representatives for Chris Johnson and Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt are reportedly planning to set up a race between the two to determine who is the world's fastest.
Johnson is likely the fastest player in the NFL, but we have to believe he'd get smoked by Bolt. At this point, the only stumbling block is the length of the race. Johnson wants it to be 60 yards or less while Bolt wants it longer. Money from the race would reportedly being going toward charity.
I can't wait!

I will be curious to see how they conduct this race. Bolt has the experience as a pure sprinter, knows how to start and run at maximum performance. That doesn't mean he has better pure speed.

Should be fun anyway

Didn't ESPN break down bolts 40 time in the summer of 09? I thought they projected his forty to be sub 4.

Chris Johnson would win the shorter distance(not guaranteed with Bolt improving his start steadily) and Usain Bolt everything beyond 50-60 meters.

He might´ve gotten a little bit too old  .. but he can still run (almost) like the wind :D and he might finish the race right about the same time as 4.24.. but not Bolt

I'm all for this as long as it doesn't break Chris Johnson's spirit to be smoked by Bolt. :D

Bolt is the fastest man the world has ever seen. Chris Johnson is the fastest in the NFL. But, he's no Bolt.

Maybe they should do it with football pads and with helmet to make it a little bit harder for Bolt, just because he isn´t used to carry more weight than in what he normally runs. But ultimately it will not make a big difference on a distance that is longer than 50 meters.

maybe a series of races would be the best solution. CJ appearantly ran a 10.3 ish 100 in high school. hard to believe that he would be much faster now at over 200 lbs. i dont think he'll win anything over 40 yards, and he might not win that. he has a chance in pads though.
