Completed my first Dynasty league start up Draft

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Completed my first Dynasty league start up Draft

Postby TB3falcons » Wed Mar 09, 2016 8:37 am

Our league starts: QB, RB, WR, TE, 4 Flex, PK, PN, 2DE, DT, 3LB, 2CB, 2S, and D flex. Scoring is kinda wonky (IMO), very WR centric with PPR and return yardage. Point totals for 2014 in parenthesis. My strategy was to focus on youth and WRs. Final roster size is 54 with a 10 man rookie taxi squad as well.

How did I do? What should I be looking for? Feel I'm a little thin at QB, unless Savage somehow wins the job. Also thin at RB, but it's one of the least valuable positions with only 6 RBs breaking 200 pts and most in the 130-170 range. Only need to start 1 RB, so focused on young WR to build my core around.

Not a bad start...you obviously went with a WR/LB-centric approach, which isn't the worst move to make. I'm in a couple of leagues this size, but the IDP scoring is much heavier. You've got some glaring holes at RB and QB, so I would focus on those two positions at the expense of everything else. There is no need to carry two coaches...just eats up a roster spot. As for your CBs and Safeties, I think you have twice as many as you need to roster. Both of those positions, even in 53 deep rosters, can be found on the WW once the season starts. You likely won't nab a top 10 guy, but they come out of nowhere to put up production so pick a few you like and start trying to unload the others for players and depth at the skill positions.

Yep, that was strategy. As far as RB, I'm hoping I can take 1 or 2 in the 2016 rookie draft. But for perspective, here are the top 20 RBs in the league:

Freeman, D 270
Peterson, A 223
Johnson, D 214
Williams, D 208
Miller, L 201
Woodhead, D 197
Martin, D 195
Gurley, T 193
Ingram, M 177
Murray, L 176
Ivory, C 175
Forte, M 173
Sproles, D 167
McFadden, D 163
McCoy, L 163
Gore, F 161
Bernard, G 156
Stewart, J 151
Murray, D 151
Abdullah, A 145

But I do agree with QB. While I am a Tyrod fan, he will most likely be on a short leash. I'm hoping Brock resigns with DEN and Savage has a chance to win the job. But I will probably be shopping for a QB as well.

And noted on the DBs. I'm thinking keep Tartt and Williams at least, maybe try to find trades for the others.

I think it looks pretty good and well-balanced. How many teams?

Also, I would be marketing Marvin Jones for sale right now, I'm surprised at what people are valuing him at

Just traded for Jeremy Hill to bolster my RB corps. Sent Levy & 4.10.

Hill had a down year last year, but hoping he can regain his form and stop fumbling.

Levy was LB1 in 2014, but thinking that was his ceiling. Hate to give the draft pick up, but feel like I made good deal.
