O-fer fantasy teams and the 2008 Detroit Lions
It had never happened in the modern history of the NFL. No team had gone without winning at least one game in a season until the 2008 Detroit Lions.
But how often does the same thing happen in fantasy?
I've been playing in 3-5 leagues for the last five years (thats between 15 and 25 teams) some dynasty and some redraft, and I have just encountered my first occurance of a team going 0-13 (no it wasn't me).
And this guy was definately trying to win (we actually pulled off a trade at the trade deadline that added good value for his team). He set his best possible line-up every week, was active on waivers, and tried.
So how often does this happen? 0-13. What's been your experiences?

16 team league we started last season, an owner if 0-fer ever. Started off with a poor inaugural draft - he was ill prepared for the rookie and IDP portions - and hasn't had a lot of luck since. It's partly his fault because he hasn't become very active in the waiver wire - and he's gained a reputation of taking any trade offered to him, though he is a bright, savvy guy. But he's having a good time and realizes he gets out what he puts into it. I'm sure we'll make a big to-do when he finally breaks into the win column.

I'm not sure I've ever even seen a 1-fer, much less a 0-fer. What about the opposite? Anyone ever seen a perfect season in fantasy? I haven't.

I have seen it happens just once in an auction/keeper league I was in over 10 years ago. The team had the talent to do it, but clearly there is going to be a luck factor in there for it to happen even for the best teams.Entropy wrote:I'm not sure I've ever even seen a 1-fer, much less a 0-fer. If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

My league #2 has a 0-13 team, which is the end of our regular season. He has a decent team, but had the most points scored against in the entire league. I managed to go 11-2, which is my best ever. Luckily, I traded Carson Palmer and Santonio Holmes to him for Dwayne Bowe and his 1st rounder this year...jackpot!

Leaning towards Bryant, or trading the pick to move down in the first and pick up a future first or prospect.thewhyterabbit wrote:nice, who are you planning to draft... youre set at rb and wr.... id still recommend bryant or spiller of course.Cojo 2020 wrote:My league #2 has a 0-13 team, which is the end of our regular season. Thanks to my trade of Boldin, Stafford and Kolb for DWill and his 1st rounder, I also have pick 1.3 this year.

I have yet to see a winless team.
In my leagues there was a team winless until the 9th week and in the same one a team broke its winless streak two weeks ago against me
In my main one a team was 0-10 going into the 2nd 3 straight week divisonal play and now has a chance to end the year .500 in divisonal play with an overall 3-10 record.
As for perfect, I ahve not it would take a good team but a TON of luck as well.

My cousin had a perfect season once. That season was amazing about 4 years ago. He had a lot of luck. It was LTs last truly dominant year and he pulled off an early trade for Larry Johnson to pair with him. But, even with that combo at it's peak, he needed luck. 16-0
