Abdullah looks legit
I might be (probably am) and overly optimistic lions fan, but 10 minutes into this game and I'm very impressed with Ameer. He looks as quick against the Jets as he did in college. Anyone else watching this game? What do you think of this kid?

Re: Abdullah looks legit
That run basically confirmed his combine. Has everything except that breakaway speed. Looks real good. He won't be a pile mover, but he is going to be an explosive playmaker. Great fit with the Lions. I think he is legit. I thought so before, just not a "Bell Cow" type back, but he will be very effective in the role he has.

Foodie. Mild sauce goes in the trash. Well done steak goes with it.
Habaneros make the best hot sauce. Throwing a bunch of random stuff on top of fries doesn't mean you call it "poutine".

Re: Abdullah looks legit
Just preseason. Devonta Freeman was PFF's best rated running-back in last year's preseason, and that didn't amount to much in the regular season.
That said... definitely nothing to complain about. Abdullah can be a 3-down back.

Re: Abdullah looks legit
I was planning to send out a trade offer for Abdullah, but now I fear the price will be far too high.

Re: Abdullah looks legit
It's the way he runs. It's the only thing that really bothers me about Abdullah. His bow-legged, spread toed gait bleeds away long-speed.Darkness wrote: He looked awesome until he hit the rev limiter at about 20-30 yards
Might be something of a trade-off, though, because I suspect that same motion/stance is part of what gives him such terrific agility, hip wiggle, ankle flexion, etc.

Re: Abdullah looks legit
the cut on his 2nd run was the thing that impressed me most. It was down right Barry Sandersesque. not many RBs can make that cut and return to speed that quickly. Hell many cant even make that cut.
the 2nd run.

Re: Abdullah looks legit
He has many special traits. There's no questioning that.
I think the two most prominent smallish backs in this class, Ameer and Duke Johnson, have been a bit underrated by the dynasty community to this point. Although that's already in the process of changing for Abdullah, of course. They both have more special traits than Yeldon, and could very well end up better pros than Gordon.

My report of him back in March:

Ameer Abdullah - RB-Nebraksa
Nice and thick built RB with great leg drive and strength. Willing pass blocker and usually looks like he knows who to block (before they come free). Catches passes in the flat as well as heading down field on wheel routes and streaks. Has power and a little wiggle also. He reminds me a little of Ahmad Bradshaw but faster and quicker. Fights for extra yards and looks like he is aware and protects the ball. I see him as a very good NFL back. Good long speed for a RB, especially a back his size.
