Someone will have to get the targets. It's either him or emmanual sanders. With all the help they need at rb, ol, and the entire age of the defense, I don't see them taking a wr until late in the draft. He might be better to hold for now until he gets overhyped after Wallace leaves and after the draft.

i agree that he will have a tough time as a true #1 reciever without Wallace around. That being said what type of value would you want back. I don't like draft picks and this is a 16 team league with extremely deep rosters.

I'd be looking up flip brown after Wallace walks. The steelers have been solid at drafting wrs, they might bring in someone that keeps Antonio as the #2.

I traded Brown/Mendenhall/Quizz for Ridley/Amedola/AJ Jenkins. Have Cruz/Garçon/Britt/Maclin to cover my WR spots.

wow! nice trade. If i could get Ridley I would in a heartbeat. I have offered for SJax and was "laughed out of the room." I will keep plugging but I assume it will take someone offering me something, not the other way around.

Yet another very nice trade. I think Brown's a hold until Wallace leaves. Then Id flip him. I dont think he gives you any production that cant be replaced relatively easily.

Thank you guys. This seems to be the consensus. Unless I get an absolutely ridiculous offer then I will probably try to shop him again in the preseason when the hype train is at full steam.

Post draft Antonio Brown value

Postby rmhtexas » Mon Apr 08, 2013 6:23 am

How much of a hit would A. Brown take if the Steelers select a WR in the first or second round, someone like Tavon Austin?

RB - McCoy, LeSean; Helu, Roy; Spiller, C.J.; Thomas, Pierre; Bobby Rainer

TE - Bennett, Martellus; Tyler Efrit; Eric Ebron
PK - Henery, Alex; Hanson, Jason
DT - Michael Brockers; McCoy, Gerald; Taylor, Phil
DE - Allen, Jared; Smith, Justin; Branch, Andre;
LB - Willis, Patrick; Jackson, D'Qwell; Timmons, Lawrence; Fletcher, London; Angerer, Pat; Foster, Mason; Wright, K.J.
CB - Arrington, Kyle; Jackson, Kareem; Robinson, Patrick; Rogers, Carlos

If you think Antonio Brown is a NFL WR2 you should be selling. That is regardless of whether Pittsburgh actually drafts a WR.

The assumption is Pittsburgh won't spend a high pick on a WR because they have other needs. However I think it's a great landing spot for a WR since Brown is a little limited and better suited to being a WR2. If they do draft a WR I think it would be Allen/Patterson/Hunter/Rogers instead of Austin just because all their good WRs are short and fast. In other words they would draft Brown's compliment.

Pittsburgh feels they can evaluate WR talent, so picking Rogers or another devalued guy or sleeper on Day 2 would make a lot of sense. Few if any of the guys in this draft are going to step in and demand more targets than Brown, but Wallace leaving and Miller's injuries leaves a black hole there which I don't think Sanders can adequately fill on his own. If they pick someone like Rogers and he succeeds, I think in 1 or 2 years that WR will be more valuable than Brown.

The act of drafting a WR shouldn't devalue him. DeSean Jackson's value didn't go down because they drafted Maclin, it went down because he didn't convert long TDs as much and was hurt all the time. If you think Brown is a legit top 60 player you should hold him. Ben is a good enough QB to give points to 2 WRs. But if you're like me and think he probably isn't there are a few WRs behind him in ADP with either much higher upside or better guaranteed production.

I don't think that A.Brown is a #1 in the NFL either, so he would stay the same to me. Wouldn't having a true #1 type of WR would mean he isn't forced to see the better corner or double coverage?

I agree and actually think the Steelers drafting a top-tier WR would increase Brown's fantasy value.
