If it were that important to them, that is.
Wait. You’re saying... we can create our own threads???

Essentially we are wagering on Akers health here.

He has the talent and situation to easily put up a top 10 season. But can he stay healthy long enough to do that? Last year he was pretty banged up.

Id be more comfortable betting on his FPPG.

Interesting thread though

Interesting take. I thought of it more as a projected workload and perceived talent exercise than an injury crapshoot.

If David Montgomery has the talent to finish as the RB4, I'm pretty sure Akers does, too. With Akers set to get one of the heaviest workloads in the league this year, it's really just going to come down to health. RB10 for a 60-65% snap share RB (which Akers should easily hit) playing all 17 games is not a particularly high bar. Last year Kareem Hunt played all 16 games and finished RB10 despite being the RB21 in points per game. This is a wager on health.

So this. Looking forward to Mike dunking on everyone if Akers misses a couple games.

That would be odd lol. Even though Mike has said health isn't a factor i'm still assuming the bet is based on being healthy at least most of the season.

I did not make my prediction based on health. All RB's will have an extra game. I think his workload will be less than many are predicting, because there is 17 games and a postseason they want him for. I just think Akers will not be one of the 12 most productive RB's

That argument applies to every RB, does it not? It’s not like the Rams are the only team that wants to keep their top RB healthy. We will probably continue to see a decline in lead back snap shares accross the board.

Relative to the vast majority of other RBs in the league though, Akers has very limited competition for touches. I’m not gonna put an exact number on his touches because we don’t know how teams will adjust, but he’s a virtual lock to be near the top.

yes; RB 8
In my PPR league, Akers was RB 13 during a 5 game stretch (week 11 thru 15). Assuming Akers is fully healthy for the year, it's not that much of a stretch for him to get to RB10. With the addition of Stafford, I think this offense could be considerably better than last year. Factor in a great defense, and I can definitely see the Rams as a Super Bowl contender that will milk 4th quarter leads by force-feeding carries to their top RB.

I’ll disagree with that. Henderson outperformed him last year when given the opportunity and from what I have seen of offseason chatter is far from conceding the position. Then there’s an X factor (pun intended) in Xavier Jones, who is a legitimate wild card in the situation. That kid is positively electric with the ball in his hands, and the limited preseason last year may have cloaked his opportunity to lay his talent on the table.

If both guys are given a competitive chance to get some workload, Akers’ share may not be as seemingly locked in as the offseason coachspeak says, and if we’ve seen anything from McVay, he’s perfectly willing to go with a hot hand.

I own shares of both Henderson and Jones and won’t be giving them up any time soon unless the Akers owner comes at me with an overpay, which is unlikely given the predominant mindset right now.
