Albert Breer speculated Brady returning home to QB for SF next year, if Jimmy G leaves. He's a FA after on a 15 mil contract and finalized his divorce with Bundchen. Garoppolo's deal was 6.5 base with various roster/start/win bonuses. He can make 5.5 mil easily this year, ignoring the playoffs.

McVay+Stafford v Shanahan+Brady would be fun, but Carroll+Geno would wreck the party... and Kingsbury+Murray would also be there.

There's zero reason to fear the Cardinals as presently constructed.

And I personally would not put any stock in that duo remaining connected into 2023.

To th first, that's what I meant. They're present but not relevant.

To the 2nd- how could Arizona make that happen, given the contract extensions?

Sigmund Bloom has been saying this since week 1, prior to Trey Lance's injury.

Getting off topic - but... the same way it usually happens, with the owner eating absolute s--- on the contracts of either the GM or the Coach, or both. It's all monopoly money as far as those positions are concerned... they are not Cap related.

Matt Rhule will be collecting an additional 40 million from the Panthers over the next 3 years. Raiders are still shelling out for Gruden. The list goes on.

Really, I go the other way - Keim and Kliff both leveraged their relative success (getting blown out for a first round exit by the Rams, lest we forget) last season and knowing that the time was -now- to lock in their cash. Perhaps they knew what was coming. It was relatively easy to spot that the Cards were going to be in trouble given the age of their roster + lack of young studs + contracts given out... I think most of us were onto it this preseason for the Cards. Especially with all the disfunction around Kyler / study clause / etc.

I will be very surprised if this trio is back in 2023. Hard Knocks in-season with the Cardinals episode 1 screened last night, just by the way...

I agree, I just haven't seen a good argument for the owner to move on from any of GM/coach/QB, especially when cap hits or required future payments are taken into account. Add in that the owner doesn't seem particularly motivated to be elite and is just happy to be a part of the club of NFL owners.

Really looking forward to seeing how Hard Knocks plays out all season!

Yep, but one data point is merely a person speculating. Hell, I wondered about the match before I heard anyone suggest it. But, a second data point from an NFL-connected source, after these months, adds credence to the thought, imo.

There were people saying it pre NFL FA, if I recall correctly. The idea has been bandied about well before August/September.

I assumed this was all just …someone suggested a trade and people ran with it on Twitter or whatever. Sounds like overzealous fantasy nonsense.

But there’s more than just a small amount of this out there.

IIRC, it was discussed/rumored/whatever verb the offseason he ended up leaving for TB. It seemed the talk got killed when he went south, and then SF took Lance. Was it mentioned elsewhere this offseason?

Jeff Howe at The Athletic speculated Brady going to NE (among other teams) this offseason. He said Brady and Belichick have expressed a ton of respect for each other since Brady went south.

Would solve QB and offensive scheme issues at the same time.

Doesn't solve the lack of talent at WR. Brady isn't the young savior he once was. He needs a solid line and legit WR to make his Manning arm still work.

And with an abysmal FA WR class they can’t re-took there with our trades, and he isn’t waiting for a rookie WR to develop.

My bet is still San Fran. Awesome run game? Great receivers and TE? What’s not to like?
