Re: PSA: Purdy has now overtaken Lance on KTC
Lance traded to Dallas.
Re: PSA: Purdy has now overtaken Lance on KTC
This was sage advice. Shoutout to the Lance truthers... but it is officially joe-ver.
What if we add "and just got traded to his 2nd team on his rookie contract and officially beaten out by a 6th round QB?"
Here's a better question more appropriately levelled at where we are now at:
"Would you rather roster Trey Lance or Zach Wilson?"

This is the vote of confidence the Purdy nay sayers needed. SF willing to lose their investment in Lance for a 4th basically gain nothing. They are content and happy with their hit in the 7th.

"Kyle Shanahan says Brock Purdy has always been unquestioned QB1 for Niners: "It actually blows my mind that there's confusion because I feel like we've said that 100 percent consistent since Day 1""

Re: PSA: Purdy has now overtaken Lance on KTC
That doesn’t matter. The 3 1sts were a sunk cost. They recovered a 4th for a guy who they might have been forced to cut. If they put him on the PS someone would grab him for nothing. If they carry 3 QBs to protect a guy who has not shown a thing as a pro they lose the roster spot all year. Getting that 4th rounder was a big deal - look at what SF has done with day 3 picks. They hosed DAL in this deal. 4th rounders may mean next to nothing to FFers, but they have significant value to NFL teams. And now DAL has to surrender the roster spot to hold him.81- wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 5:00 pmThree firsts for a fourth.

Yeah, it was a bad pick. RG3 had at least 1 good season, but also a bad trade. Those trade ups rarely seem to work. Ricky Williams was another.81- wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 7:44 pmIt matters when you discuss all time worst trades in sports historyBronco Billy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 7:08 pmThat doesn’t matter. Imagine the pressure of Lance trying to learn the NFL and become the franchise QB of "America's team", with no experience. If it was a long shot in SF, it's a shot at the moon in Dallas, behind a proven, top 12ish, QB, in his prime. Lance will almost certainly be going in to FA after his 4th year with basically no time as a starter, after missing his final year of college. That would be 6 years. The odds are long that he'd be signed as a starter at that point, anyways. Almost non existent. He'd be a backup, getting a moderate deal.

Well, I guess that does matter if you care what ESPN thinks.81- wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 7:44 pmIt matters when you discuss all time worst trades in sports historyBronco Billy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 7:08 pmThat doesn’t matter. Zach Wilson, hoping he sits and learns behind Rodgers and can turn things around once Rodgers retires. More hope in that then Lance suddenly beating out Dak...mild wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 4:55 pmThis was sage advice. Shoutout to the Lance truthers... but it is officially joe-ver.

Re: PSA: Purdy has now overtaken Lance on KTC
He plays well, but man, his deep ball stinks. He's missing throws badly there. He's so much better than Lance, don't get me wrong. The idea he's in the top tier of QB's, though is wrong, IMO. He's really hitting 2/3rd's of this scheme fairly well. The deep 3rd, he just doesn't have it there. He's missing easy points for an "elite" QB.
So while he is playing well, I'm going to say NO, to the idea he's elite right now, Mike. Congrats on the win.
