Yeah taking the late 1st for Lance would be the smart play in my mind.
KTC, Lance is valued over Pickett, late 1st, Goff, Cousins and the Purdy man himself.

This is my issue with lance, would I hold him over a 2nd yeah. I'd pay that easy but that's not the price on him qJigga94 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 2:33 pmYeah taking the late 1st for Lance would be the smart play in my mind.

Because he's a 22 year old QB, learning, and having all the tools to be a top 5 QB and he has flashed that he can be one. A different situation but quite similar is Jordan Love. Drafted to be developed and having upside, flashed in games his development and progress, and it looks to be his time now. Anyone who held him and didnt sell him for scraps like 3rds or a late 2nd will have a starting QB. How much he will score remains to be seen, but you cant claim that after quickly scoring against the EAGLES, that he wont have a chance be a decent top 12 QB. And the same goes for Lance. He's 22. Im taking his upside ALL DAY over some late 2nd or 3rd round rookie who will be backup his entire career. This is dynasty. And in some stretched sense it's life. Not ever player comes into the NFL and breaks records and beats every veteran at their job day 1 or even after one year. Sometimes it takes time. Lance and Love are such QBs. They take time. Like Josh Allen needed time. Only that he had the privilege to start from day one and didnt have veterans playing for the playoffs/SB run, let alone that one was a two time consecutive MVP of the league. To sit there and claim "uh he should have beaten Rodgers at his job" is god damn ridiculous.
Most everyone would take him over a 3rd... But thats not really the question or Lance's current value. I've seen him still valued as a 1st, in which case, I'd be getting out if I had any shares leftSN9-7Titans wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 9:10 pmBecause he's a 22 year old QB, learning, and having all the tools to be a top 5 QB and he has flashed that he can be one. X2 the debate I've seen shouldn't be him vs a 2 or a 3 but him vs a mid 1/ is he worth being a top 10/12 dynasty QB which I'm out on him atJigga94 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:36 amMost everyone would take him over a 3rd... No, he hasn't.SN9-7Titans wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 9:10 pmBecause he's a 22 year old QB, learning, and having all the tools to be a top 5 QB and he has flashed that he can be one. Guess you havent heard the latest news yet. It's Lance in the drivers seat atm. Purdy needs 6 months just to get back on the practice fields which is after OTAs. He'll probably be on the PUP list for most of the offseason unless he's progressing well. JimmyG is a FA and i think it's safe to say that they wont resign him, because firstly he's been a pain in the bleep for them contract wise... and secondly he has more chance at other teams to get a contract like the Jets, Raiders, etc. who are looking for a veteran.
Christian McCaffrey would beg to differ.murphysxm wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 12:55 pm One QB has a record of 4-4 when handed the starting job.

On the same team, with the same weapons
The NFL values wins and success over all else. To your car analogy, it doesn't apply. GM's lose their jobs going 4-4. Owners reward 7-0. Doubling down on a draft day mistake will always cost people their jobs.
Lance in the driver's seat with no steering wheel. You have to be seriously invested, with the takes you have. OTA's vs what Purdy did in the regular season. Not sure what matters more.SN9-7Titans wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 7:23 amGuess you havent heard the latest news yet. It's Lance in the drivers seat atm. It's again Lance's job to lose. This was never about him being bad or never receiving the opportunity. He just got injured too quickly and early in the season. They never wanted to play him in his rookie year, which was obvious and known. And this year he started but got injured. Nothing more is to be said here. The Niners would be fools to sign some veteran QB to a huge contract when they have two capable starting QB on rookie deals.
from where do you take all this "Lance is unfit to carry a team to a SB at the moment." and " Lance has not shown to be a capable starting QB" and "Sorry to burst the bubble, he's still basically an unknown, with almost no starting QB experience since High School." You havent seen Lance play since last year. What is there to say that Lance wouldnt have won with the team at the end of the year? The defense definitely stepped up at the end of the year as well. It's not like Purdy just goated out and made insane deep field throws. The stats were clear, he was a slightly better JimmyG, which is not what the niners were looking for when they drafted Lance. Lance is the better athlete. Period.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 11:21 pmLance in the driver's seat with no steering wheel. You have to be seriously invested, with the takes you have. Regardless, the 49ers have a short win window. Lance is unfit to carry a team to a SB at the moment. When he was drafted, they hoped he would be year 3, most likely, but his career arc was shot. Purdy, is now an unknown, due to his injury, though he showed way more than Lance did, and they knew Lance wasn't close, through training camp etc., especially the players, were not able to contain that.
So why wouldn't the 49ers entertain another option at QB? It's at least in the range of possibilities. Lance has not shown to be a capable starting QB, Purdy has. Sorry to burst the bubble, he's still basically an unknown, with almost no starting QB experience since High School. Purdy has shown in a small sample size to be a good starting QB, but now he's got an elbow injury. Lance has not shown anything at the NFL level that would indicate he's a competent starter for any relevant sample size, and lost to the Bears, who won 3 games all year, including that win vs a 49ers team that was way better. Lance was bad in that game, and yeah. Weather. Fields had to play in the same weather, and his team won. Lance was terrible, and he's had virtually zero time to get better since then.
He's not a good NFL QB right now, and Shanny will have to dumb down his offense to suit him next year. Either way, the 49ers are in a tough spot at QB, they either have the unqualified Lance, or Purdy, who may not be healthy if the rehab doesn't go well. With so much at stake with a contending team, I wouldn't rule out a QB of note added to the mix.
