Nice to hear some support, I just pulled the trigger. The deal ended up being my 1.04, 6.09, 10.09 for 2.06, 4.06, 6.06 and a 2018 1st. It's a 12 team league, half ppr, 4 pt pass td, starting: 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 3FLEX, 1TE, 1K, 1DST. The 3 flex spots makes the deal even more valuable to me cause RB/WR depth will be even more important

It's fair according to startup pick value.

Personally I would have passed. Using ADP and just assuming the 6th round picks are a wash that's Zeke and Treadwell for Dez, Tyreek, and 2018 1st. Seems light for Zeke.

Any strategy will work if you pick the right players.

I personally don't like to make too many trades in a startup until at least a few rounds in and I can begin to see how teams are strategies are shaping up (a big reason why I prefer slow drafts). the best strategy with trades, however, is to only offer up fair ones and don't be afraid to slightly overpay if there is someone you really like that you notice is dropping. Assuming this is a league that will stick together for a while, developing that reputation as being a fair owner will help in the long-run. No body wants to trade with the guy that is constantly offering up garbage, even if/when a fair one does come across.

I like the move, and I would keep trading back to acquire more 1sts. You should be able to turn 2.06 and 4.06 into another three 2018 1sts, at least. Four 1sts for Zeke is an outstanding haul.

How many picks would you move down from 2.06 to equal a 2018 first roughly?

I'm increasingly open-minded going into a start-up as to how I will play it. In a perfect world I trade down for picks and hoover up young talent, especially at WR. Increasingly though, that's what everyone is trying to do. If I think a league is under-valuing RBs, I'll go there. If it's older players left out there, I'll take those. Basically I'm looking for an edge.
One reason I love SuperFlex so much is that all of the drafts are unpredictable to a degree. There will be a QB run or two and if you judge it wrong, you're screwed. Value is always in flux through the first few rounds and people panic. Regular leagues tend to be more predictable.
The biggest thing I do differently now than when I started is to take my guys. If I have to pay to get a guy I love and the price is bearable, I'll do it. If I've missed my tier and other people are valuing the pick because their guy is there, I'll trade down.

Just browsing through this is pretty helpful! I have a start up that starts tomorrow. Most of my previous drafts were auctions, which made things a bit different. I have completed 2 start up drafts in the past few years, and my first one went horribly wrong.. I had to trade out of terrifying mess that I created, and 1 year later, I have a team ready to compete (team 1 in signature) I went need over BPA in that draft. I realize now that was a Big mistake. This time I'm going to learn from my mistake, draft BPA, trade for need later. Good info!
