Re: Martavis owners
An interesting bit from the National Football Post this morning. Looks like no appeal for Bryant. And there were a few issues that took him straight to the 1-year ban if this is entirely correct.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant is accepting a one-year suspension for violating the NFL substance-abuse policy for multiple new violations following a previous suspension from the league, according to league sources. Bryant had originally planned to appeal the suspension, but instead will start serving the suspension, which will span an entire calendar year under NFL rules governing suspended players.
Bryant missed several scheduled drug tests, which counts the same as a failed test, had a diluted specimen, which is the same as a failed test, along with a failed drug test for marijuana.

Yep exactly. Never said he was worth more or less to anyone else. Just giving MY opinionStevens61310 wrote:To YOU he is worth more than a 3rd round pick. To me he is not. He's gone for an entire year. There's no crystal ball that says he won't do it again. I won't offer more than a third for him. And I know plenty that think the same--jcc6fd wrote:He's worth more on my bench than a 3rd round pick. However, I'm not really considering selling him. If he doesn't come back then I cut him, but if he gets his life together in rehab I still have an electric WR2 with tons of potential. It could be just a ploy to gain Bryant sympathy but if he really is using drugs to combat depression then I suppose there's hope.

I can't wait until next offseason when there's like 40 threads in the advice section asking whether or not Bryant is worth the 1.01.

Re: Martavis owners
I guess I should have held into Brown a bit longer....I could have got more than Dez + 3rd + 5th round picks lol. Opportunity knocking at the door still that I could convert that 5th rd pick for a TE named Green

Re: Martavis owners
Bought him in a couple of leagues about two weeks before news broke. I'm a bit down on this, but there's no point in selling him right now. I'm fine with holding and seeing what happens. I wasn't counting on him as anything more than my WR3-4 in any league that I bought him, so there's no need to panic sell yet.
Truth be told, we all know how this will end. One of two things will happen:
Come next year, the reports will start coming out about how he's in shape, and he's cleaned up his act, and his price will start to rise again. People will start to salivate over the 25 year old WR in a high powered offense with freak ability, and will start to forget about the suspension and pay a high price for him again
or
He does something stupid and ends up like Justin Blackmon.
I'm betting on the former, but it's really just a gamble. I have no idea what's actually going to happen.

Re: Martavis owners
It is technically not a one-year suspension, it is an indefinite suspension. Big difference. See: Justin Blackmon & Daryl Washington.
That said, someone in my league was offered 2016 2.06 & Ted Ginn, but turned it down (understandably so) - but I can't picture anyone paying much for him.

Re: Martavis owners
I think he's easily worth a late 1st in rookie pick terms. I believe in his talent (even moreso than Gordon). Whether he gets on the field or not I can't say, but when you pick a rookie in that range you aren't any more likely to get a stud than taking Gordon or Bryant. When Kevin White got hurt and missed a year he didn't suddenly drop to a 3rd round pick, I don't consider a suspension to be that much more dangerous than an injury. Sure, there was Blackmon, but I've played long enough to own Domanick Davis and David Williams and Danario Alexander and Laurent Robinson and Dennis Pitta and Chris Simms.. any player's career can be over on any given day. The difference is Kevin White hasn't performed yet while Bryant and Gordon have. I'll buy Bryant in any leagues where I don't already own him if the price drops far enough.

So, for Bryant owners, 1.11, would you take it?

Re: Martavis owners
I offered Seth Roberts and the 2.09 and it got immediately rejected without a counter.
Re: Martavis owners
I originally saw this as an opportunity to buy low in my rebuilding teams, but 6 failed tests is pretty extreme. And an indefinite suspension is definitely concerning considering the track record of the league with reinstating lately. Will probably continue to own him nowhere, and not be too upset over it

Re: Martavis owners
I have him in 2 leagues of 10. Just sold him in an IDP league (10 on each side) for 2 thirds (3.07 and 3.08). Since it's IDP those are a little more valuable, but I can use these to hit some LB depth.

I'd be willing to spend a late 2nd, but anything other than that is insanity, and I'm the gambling type and have been holding Gordon for most of his career

Re: Martavis owners
Was just offered a conditional 3rd, with the condition being that he gets reinstated and plays 8 games this season. Just insanity with the news that he isnt going to appeal and if he was reinstated he'd be worth more.
Think I'll pass and just wait to see if he gets reinstated and then flip for a 1st or more if the same happens as it has for Gordon.
Currently trying to buy everywhere for a 3rd or lower and hopefully flip him next season for more.
