Good news for Ajayi owners!

Postby Coogan Football » Mon Mar 07, 2016 3:57 pm

The Dolphins just acquired Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell via trade with the Eagles.

Now it's almost impossible that they can afford to pay Miller and he'll be gone which means that'll leave the backfield to Ajayi (hopefully!)

Hmmmmm do the Dolphins have enough RBs left? Seems they may NEED to draft or sign one with the sudden lack of depth and injury history of the one notable unproven back they have.
Maybe they can't afford Miller, but can they afford an Alf Morris or something?

New front office and coaching staff, I wouldn't put a ton of stock in Ajayi. If someone were willing to pay a pretty penny for him before FA and /or the draft, I'd consider selling.

I have always thought the drafting of Ajayi last year was fairly clear that Miller was gone--

Once upon a time, Reggie Bush didn't return to the Lions, and Riddick's prices went up significantly.

Then Abdullah happened.

Learn from the past, everybody.

Or, once upon a time The Law Firm retired, and Bernard was assured to be a fantasy stud.

Then Jeremy Hill happened.

Let's let the dust settle some. Dolphins may release Grimes and let Vernon walk. If that happens, there is more than enough room to sign Miller.

Ajayi is the lead runner and they simply restock in the draft. Damien Williams there too still I'm pretty sure.

If Miller in fact does leave what price would you give Ajayi? 1.07-1.12? More? Less? I have a fair amount of Ajayi shares and may look to unload if the right deal comes along.

X2. I have a feeling T.Rawls owners will be disappointed as well.

Of course there's a risk and like you guys say, the assumption that someone just moves up a rung on the depth chart and is now the starter has burned a lot of people. Equally, most of the guys taking risks on people like Ajayi aren't hopeless optimists, so much as owners who prefer to roll the dice at RB, take a few shots and hope that they hit on something. If you're going to spend most of your money at WR it makes sense to take a chance on picking up guys like this relatively cheaply.

Wait a minute, you guys are really comparing Ajayi's running ability to Tre Mason, Theo Riddick and Joseph Randle?

You should probably go look at Ajayi's college production and film again...

Some doctor at the combine basically said Ajayi had one useless knee and yet he was still drafted in the 5th round, the kid can run the ball really well. He was at worst the 3rd best RB in the draft last year until the medical report freaked everybody out.

Have to agree with you here. Most pre-draft mocks last year on this site had him as a top 6-7 rookie pick before the medical report was released. Some (myself included ) even had him ahead of Gordon as the #2 RB off the board in rookie drafts.

This whole situation with Miller is why I couldn't bring myself to sellinf Ajayi for what he was worth a month or two ago. I think if Miller stays in MIA then Ajayi's value probably isn't much lower than it currently is, and if Miller does leave then his value could go through the roof. To be there was no incentive to sell at RB3-4 prices. Now if Miller leaves and Ajayi starts bringing in top 10-15 RB value, that's when I'll look to cash out.
