I think Pats is a good one.

I also like JAX. I think they beat Carolina at home. Carolina strikes me as a dumpster fire waiting to happen and I think Jax gets off to a nice hot start before fizzling.

I read the entire thread trying to find some one who picked Jacksonville. And it wasn't until the very last entry that somebody mentioned them. I do believe Jacksonville wins but I wouldn't pick them. The "easy" picks for me -- in order-- are Indy, GB (pains me to say that since i am a Bears fan), Miami, Jets. Nothing is easy after that.

As a Bucs fan, you may not get a better matchup all season than the Titans.

That said, Tampa Bay has perfected the art of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I debated Indy, but I don't see how that is an easy road win for them. Yes, Tyrod Taylor is probably going to be average at best thought the air, but offense is improved overall, Shady looks like he is playing (even if not quite 100%, seems better than the pitch count he was on a week ago), great defense, first home game, and we saw what happened to GB when they went in there last year. I would take Indy if I had to pick, but that seems pretty risky for week one survivor. Bills are a underrated team that is fired up. Tough place to play.

Just a heads up, Mike Evans isn't practicing.

-oo-
You have me interested. What do you see in Pittsburgh that makes them a safe bet to lose?
1 - no LeVeon Bell or Martavius Bryant
2 - non division game going with the home team, which is a must
3 - Tom Brady is playing
4 - Turnover on the Steeler defense, especially at dback.

I think the Steelers will be a playoff team and will have a good season, but I think the Pats have the upper hand week one.

btw, I do find the Jets pick intriguing, but I've been burned by them way too often in the past.

-oo-
And to add to that list, Maurkice Pouncey (Pitt's starting center) is out and the Pats are the biggest vegas favorite for the week.

Anyone not choosing the Pats or Pack this week is crazy or has brass balls IMO.

I'm going with the jets here. Name one brown receiver you're concerned about. Plus they have mccown under center and Crowell is arguably their most dynamic player.. My only concern is the Cleveland secondary. I can see fitz teeing up the Browns offense for an easy score that puts them up 10-9. I also like Green Bay and NE, but don't want to burn them early in a big pool and hate betting against the steelers

@ Jacksonville
vs Buffalo
vs N.Y. Jets
Bye
@ Tennessee
vs Houston

I feel like I like Miami in just about any of those as much or more than @ Washington.
Awesome insight, much appreciated. I narrowed it down to NYJ or MIA as well and went MIA but admittedly didn't look at up coming games.. Now I need to seriously consider changing it to NYJ. Thanks :D

For me, week 1 of a survivor league is all about ... surviving. It has nothing to do with looking ahead to week 2, 3 or beyond. The first week of the season is far and away the most lethal.

After (or if) I survive week 1, there are generally a couple of good options for week 2. After that there is much better clarity on which teams are good and which are bad. It really isn't until the 3rd week that I even consider "saving" certain teams.

You talked me off the Jets.

I have 4 Survivor picks (1 pick in one pool, 3 picks in a different pool) and I'm now going NE, NE, DAL, DAL.

Went with NE...hopefully they get it done and then we can root for carnage this weekend.

I'm pretty much taking anyone who is playing the Browns.

It doesn't hurt that I can get the Jets outta the way week 1.
