Grade my rebuild so far...

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Grade my rebuild so far...

Postby M-Dub » Fri Jun 12, 2015 12:05 pm

Here is the team I inherited in late April:

QB: D. Brees, T. Romo, J. Football
RB: L. McCoy, L. Blount, D. Sproles, D. Martin, C. Hyde
WR: K. Benjamin, S. Watkins, J. Edelman, P. Garcon
TE: J. Thomas
1:12, 2:12
2016: one 1st, one 2nd

After a bunch of trades, both before and after the rookie draft, I've molded it into the current lineup in my sig. This is my first foray into dynasty football, and there have been a couple bumps in the road, but I feel like I've put myself in a pretty good position to be a serious contender by 2017, if not next season if a few things fall my way.

What do you think?

BTW, if you're wondering why I traded away Benjamin and Watkins in a rebuild, it was in a trade for Gronk before I had fully committed to idea of rebuilding.

yeah having 3 firsts next year is nice but i dont feel like you got a ton of bang for you buck. i tend to agree with sugar. List your trades if it isnt too much work i wouldnt mind seeing them all. you definitely sold short on some assets.

And apparently traded Gronk somewhere in there too.

if the pick used to get white was owned prior to the deals then it really looks bad

Looks like rookie fever to me. Hopefully those future firsts are top picks.

Per request, here are the moves, trades and draft picks that got me to where I'm at, for better or worse:

Dropped Doug Martin without realizing that I couldn't add any players at the time. Oops.

Gave Brees, Benjamin, Watkins, Thomas and the 1:12. Received P. Manning, T. West, M. Bryant, Gronk and the 2:07.

Traded Sproles for the 2:02.

Right before the rookie draft, I traded McCoy for the 2:03, 2:04 and a 2016 1st. [This is the point where I officially committed to rebuilding.]

Drafted Funchess (2:02), Ajayi (2:03), Davis (2:04), Maxx (2:07) & Cobb (2:12).

Gave Edelman, Garcon, Romo, West. Received L. Murray, N. Foles, M. Ball.

Traded Manning for Perriman.

Three-way trade: Gave Gronk & Ball. Received White, Strong, Gordon & 2016 1st.

Maybe a little bit of rookie fever, but probably more like "new owner" fever. I think I made out pretty well in some of the trades (the Sproles and Manning trades, at the very least), but others might be more a product of me being new to dynasty and wanting to remake the team in my own image before even establishing any sort of long-term plan.

There's still a free agent auction before the NFL season starts, where I'll probably try to shore up my TE situation (J. Hill and L. Green are both available, as are both Denver TEs) and look for a viable QB (E. Manning? Dalton? Bradford?).

Considering how shitty my team looks right now, I should have a really good shot at the 1:01 or 1:02 next year, which would give me four of the top 13-14 picks in the 2016 draft.

The biggest "X factor" is whether or not Gordon returns and how good he is if he does. If he's even close to his 2013 form, I could be a contender as early as next year. If he flames out, I'll just have to hope that enough of my rookies (both this year and next) pan out. They might be dart throws, but at least I have a lot of them. Bound to hit at least a couple bullseyes, right?

i wouldnt get too discouraged with some of the comments. its pretty common for a new owner to step in and blow up a team, only to get this type of result. i play in alot of leagues and see all types of teams taken over. some obviously need tore down, but most get tore down like youve done for no reason. try not to be the guy who takes over a team, tears it apart....and then walks away in a year or two. stick with your plan and all will be just fine.

Dude you had some really nice trades in there the only glaring one was trading gronk and bell. You can't win them all but who knows maybe gronk and bell peaked.

yikes the shady deal is really bad

so you essentially trade KB, Brees, Sammy, Thomas and a late 1st for Perriman, White, Strong, and a 1st....better team prior to that
