DeVante Parker for Kelce and 2015 2.01?

Postby MrBalloonHands » Sat Jun 06, 2015 12:02 pm

Thinking about offering this trade.

Devante Parker for Kelce and the 2015 2.01 pick.

Any thoughts? Am I short changing Parker on this one? I love Kelce's upside.

Thanks!

That's a home run. For the guy you're offering the deal to.

I haven't studied Parker much b/c he wasn't a target at my draft ADP but what has he proven at this point?

He's a rookie with foot issues and a crowded receiving corps.

Kelce looks to be the real thing...at least to me. Both are ranked next to each other on the top 100 FWIW.

I like the Kelce side.

It's been 24 hours and he's already been pegged as a guy with "foot issues"

I don't see this deal as lopsided in any which way. Parker, depending on who you are, is a 1.4-1.8 draft pick so Kelce and a 2.1 pick really isn't that far off. Is it a TE premium? My guess is rookie fever is still a little at play so this is a pretty good deal. Just depends on your preference. Plus no one is saying Parker is injury prone but missing camp is a pretty big deal as far as being game ready. You could buy him back half way through the season for less.

Parker is a rookie without a single NFL snap who might be pretty good, but it's far from being any sort of guarantee.

Kelce is a blue-chip at his position that just played one of the best first 16 games by an NFL tight-end in years, and a 2.01 is a quality pick that could be argued as equal to Parker's current value all by itself.

The 'foot issue' goes back to the 2014 season.

At 22 the foot "issue" to me isn't a real issue yet. resources are finally available for him to get he's foot right so hes taking it. That's all it means to me.

^ I'm not saying he has chronic foot issues but if we are looking at the trade in a vacuum today there's nothing Parker can do to improve his stock. He's on the shelf.

Kelce looks to build upon last season.

Persistent lower-leg injuries are effectively death for pro wide-receivers, though. And foot injuries have a tendency to reoccur.

I'm not saying people should abandon ship on Parker (way to premature for that), but it's a definite note to keep in mind for the future, and it certainly doesn't help his current stock.

As this is an offer you're considering making, I'd say I'm not sure the Kelce side would take it. One of the most promising young TEs out there and a pick next year for a question mark who just had foot surgery? I wouldn't do it.

So yes, it would be a good deal for you IMO.

So you are gonna knock Parker for a minor foot issue, but overlook the big guy who missed a season with microfracture problems?

Parker is the concensus 1.5, Kelce has mid-first round pick value on his own in the 1.8/1.9 range so the trade is totally reasonable for either side. Kelce's hype is just as ludicrous as rookie fever.
