Cooper and Austin are in different galaxies of pedigree and talent level. I am a contender, and just traded away Forte and a 2nd for 1.04. I have the 1.01. I'm not going to trade it for an aging running back, just like I'm not keeping Forte just because he MIGHT help me win. I am a firm believer in trying to contend every year, and I would rather trade guys like Forte or Charles a year early, rather than a year late (when they are worth considerably less) That's the way I'm doing it. To each their own, but I'll take 1.01 over any RB not named Le'veon Bell with this years draft class. Sure they could bust. Eddie Lacy could get a concussion, or his toe may start to hurt. Julio may break his foot again, too. I don't value Charles as much as the 1.01. He's an aging back who's most productive years are in the rear view mirror.Needalife wrote:THIS ^, I value Charles greatly and if I'm a top 3-4 team, zero chance I'm letting him go for a big maybe at 1.01. One key factor to consider is your ability to acquire Knile also and lock up that KC backfield.Oddball456 wrote:I have Charles and am a contender for sure this year - I would not give him up for the 1.01. If I had Charles on a non-contender team, then the 1.01 would hold more value in that situation.
1.01 can also be a complete bust. In 2012, Montee and Tavon Austin went 1.01 in a few drafts I saw which you need to consider.

Re: Jamal Charles for 1.01
All info and all dynasty leagues I play in are 12 team, ppr, with .25/carry. that is what my running data base has been predicated upon along with a requirement to play at least 12 games in the season in question to qualify. I then arrange the backs by total points scored. So again my argument is not misleading I specifically say being drafted in the top 15 pick in the nfl draft produces a 100 % success rate to produce at least 1 rb season. So the list you have provided has been edited below. I will say my initial argument was wrong as success rate produce "1 top 12 season was 8 out of 9 as J stewart never met the top 12 threshold.
Ronnie Brown- 08' rb 17, 10' rb 19
Cadillac Williams*-05' RB 18
Cedric Benson- 09' rb 14 (played only 13 games on pts/game was rb 6)
Reggie Bush*- 06' RB 11, (07' rb 19 (played only 12 games on pts/game basis he was rb 10), 11' rb 12, 12" rb 14,13' rb 10
Adrian Peterson- 07' rb 6, 08' rb 4, 09' rb 3, 10' rb 6, (11-14' stud I quit documenting we get the picture)
Marshawn Lynch- 07' rb 12, 08' rb 12,11' rb 5 (11-14 stud I quit documenting we get the picture)
Darren McFadden*- 10' rb 9 (pts/game rb 2)
Jonathan Stewart*- 09' rb 16
Knowshon Moreno*- 09' rb 18, 10' pt/gm 16, 13' rb 4
CJ Spiller*- 12' rb 9
Ryan Mathews*- 11' rb 8, 13' rb 12
Trent Richardson- 12' rb 7
the data speaks for itself, and I specify 1 rb 1 season. Best case charles has 2 left, lets be honest, @ 29 you can't expect more than that. My argument is based on an 8/9 hit rate and what thats worth compared to a declining asset that will never be worth more than what he is today. Trent richardson was the consensus 1.01 after his rookie year so you can take that for what its worth

This. Far too many owners try and hit the home run but end up swinging and missing.Oddball456 wrote:I have Charles and am a contender for sure this year - I would not give him up for the 1.01. Championships today > putting up points 5 years from now.

Spiller, T. Rich, R. Mathews, D. Wilson, D. Martin, Ingram, Moreno, etc. Etc.
I'll take Charles and a great chance at a championship for the next 3 years instead of hoping a rookie pans out.
